A month has passed, but the spirit remains.

From every chant, every performance, and every clash of colors and energy, the Sociology Students’ Society proved that the rhythm of the people can never be silenced. Through passion, unity, and unstoppable spirit, the Sosyals proudly secured the Overall Third Runner Up during the Vanguards Week 2026 Celebration.

What echoed throughout the week was more than just noise, it was the sound of resistance, the pulse of solidarity, and the collective heartbeat of every Sosyal who stepped into every arena ready to raise the banner of Sociology higher. Every effort, whether on stage or behind the scenes, became part of a movement driven by determination and pride.

To all the students, participants, officers, performers, and supporters who gave their time, energy, and dedication for the department — thank you for carrying the beat and standing with the Sociology community until the very end. Your hard work, sacrifices, and passion made this achievement possible, and this victory belongs to every single Sosyal who rose with the rhythm. 🥁🔥

Sa isang lipunang patuloy na nagtatakda kung sino ang dapat mahalin, paano magmahal, at sino ang karapat-dapat mahalin, ang pagpili na maging totoo sa sarili ay isang anyo ng pagtindig. Hindi dahil mahirap magmahal, kundi dahil may mga pagkakataong ang simpleng pag-iral at pag-amin kung sino tayo ay nangangailangan ng tapang.

Ang buwan na ito ay hindi lamang pagdiriwang ng pagkakaiba. Ito ay pag-alala sa mga tinig na pinatahimik, sa mga buhay na nakipaglaban para sa pagkilala at pagkakapantay-pantay, at sa mga patuloy na tumitindig upang ang bawat isa ay mabuhay nang may dignidad, kalayaan, at dangal.

Sapagkat ang tunay na pag-ibig ay hindi lamang nagpapalaya sa sarili, ito rin ay nagpapalaya sa kapwa.

On April 19, 2026, the Sociology Students’ Society partnered with the Rotaract Club of General Santos City for the Autism Awareness Benefit Dinner at the Greenleaf Hotel. The event aimed to promote a deeper understanding and support for individuals on the autism spectrum. SocioCiety representatives Alyssa Glyn Gea Antenor, Archie Grabillo, Aura Tuyogon, and Regielyn Sanchez attended the gathering, which featured inspiring messages from advocates and featured video infomercials with the organization's own participation, showing the daily realities of children with autism. Through these activities, the event successfully built stronger community support and awareness.

This meaningful engagement not only established a vital partnership for the organization but also inspired ideas to further strengthen critical sociological representation in a crucial advocacy sector. The collaboration served to cultivate a deeper social understanding, dismantle stigma, and foster a more inclusive environment for individuals on the autism spectrum. Moving forward, the organization remains steadfast and hopeful for more collaborations that bring community narratives into the broader dialogue for social inclusivity.

The Panarikas: Research Colloquium for the Academic Year 2025–2026 brought together students, faculty members, and academic researchers at the Audio Visual Room of Mindanao State University–General Santos City today, May 13, 2026.

The event served as a platform for participants to present their research studies, exchange ideas, and engage in meaningful academic discussions on various social, cultural, and contemporary issues. An awarding ceremony for the Best Presenter will also be held during the event.

More than just a formal requirement, the event serves as a platform for critical exchange, where valuable insights and expert critiques help refine their rigorous work and push the boundaries of their pursuit of excellence.
