General Santos City’s 14-year-old badminton athlete Raphaelle Dinara “Orange” Aguinea won silver in the Under-17 Mixed Doubles division of the 13th World Chinese Youth Badminton Championship 2026 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Aguinea teamed up with Malaysian player Hanz Yaw and reached the championship round before settling for silver against a Taiwanese pair.

Her 11-year-old brother, Remiel Alessandri Aguinea, also competed in the tournament and reached the main draw quarterfinals in both boys’ singles and boys’ doubles.

Today is one of those moments that we will truly treasure.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to Bombo Radyo Gensan for inviting us and, more importantly, for giving your valuable time and attention to recognize our local young talents who are steadily emerging and passionately working to master their craft.

For us, this is more than just an invitation to a radio station.

It is a reminder that the journey of our young athletes is being seen, heard, and appreciated.

Behind every young athlete is a story that many people may never see.

There are early mornings and long training sessions. There are weekends spent inside the court instead of playing like ordinary children. There are moments of exhaustion, disappointment, frustration, and doubt. There are tournaments where they win, and there are tournaments where they learn the hardest lessons through defeat.

There are sacrifices made not only by the athletes, but also by their parents, coaches, mentors, supporters, and everyone who continues to believe in them.

And yet, despite all these challenges, they continue to show up.

They continue to train.

They continue to learn.

They continue to improve.

And most importantly, they continue to dream.

That is why we are deeply grateful to Bombo Radyo Gensan for taking the time to recognize these young athletes.

Sometimes, a simple opportunity to be heard can make a tremendous difference in a young person's journey.

When young athletes hear their names being mentioned, when their efforts are acknowledged, and when their stories are given a platform, they are reminded that their sacrifices are not meaningless.

They are reminded that somebody believes in them.

They are reminded that their dreams are worth pursuing.

And perhaps most importantly, they learn that success is not only measured by medals and trophies, but also by the courage to keep moving forward when the journey becomes difficult.

We are especially grateful because these young talents are not only developing their skills in badminton. They are also learning values that will remain with them long after their athletic careers—discipline, patience, humility, resilience, respect, responsibility, and perseverance.

Our dream is not simply to produce champions.

Our greater dream is to help develop young people who have the character to become champions in life.

If someday they reach the biggest stages in the Philippines or even compete internationally, we hope they will remember where their journey began.

They began on local courts.

They began with simple dreams.

They began with parents who believed in them.

They began with coaches who patiently guided them.

They began with communities that supported them.

And today, they are beginning to experience something equally important—the recognition and encouragement of people who see their potential.

To Bombo Radyo Gensan, thank you for being one of those voices.

Thank you for giving our young athletes a platform.

Thank you for recognizing the efforts of our local talents.

Thank you for helping us tell their stories.

And thank you for reminding our young athletes that General Santos City has a place for dreamers, achievers, and young people who are willing to work hard for something they believe in.
