CITY GOV’T OFFERS FREE SUMMER SPORTS TO 2T KIDS

Mayor Jose Espinosa III is inviting children to join this year’s Free Summer Sports Clinic as part of the City Government’s Pag-ulikid sang Syudad sa Kabataan program through City Sports Division on April 9-15.
The weeklong event will be conducted 8am-5pm at all district public plazas and at SM City Iloilo.
The sports activities are arnis, wushu, taekwondo, volleyball, basketball, football, lawn tennis, jiu-jitsu, chess, table tennis, and karatedo.
“I believe that the most important advantage of sports to children is the development of their physical and mental ability. Through sports, they can learn how to be honest, reliable and helpful to others in need,” Espinosa said.
“I would like to encourage the parents to let their children be in sports so that they can discover new things and find new set of friends,” he added.
City Sports Division officer-in-charge Moises Salomon said they are expecting more than 2,000 participants to join this year.
“This program is running for almost 11 years now and we are very glad that thousands of children participate every year. It only means they enjoy being into sports. We are hoping for the success of this program,” Salomon said.
“It’s for free so they don’t have to worry about anything. All they have to do is to visit their plazas and coordinate with facilitators and instructors assigned there,” he added.
The top players for every sports from different districts will be given certificates and medals.The awarding or graduation ceremony is set at SM City Iloilo Northwing on April 15 at 1:30pm. (Thessalonia Ordales/Iloilo City PIO)
