For the Western Visayas Elementary Boys Football Team, that championship journey was led by two outstanding mentors, 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗔𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗹 𝗕𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗰 𝗡𝘂𝗲𝘃𝗼 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗦𝗮𝗺 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲, 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗵 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘀 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗮 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 after steering Region VI to a dominant championship victory and reclaiming the national crown.

Their dedication, leadership, and passion for the game helped transform a group of young dreamers into national champions, 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝗱𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗴𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗮 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲.

From rigorous training sessions to the brightest stage in school sports, these coaches turned sweat into success, 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝘃𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆.

As the young booters lifted the championship crown, they also carried with them the lessons, discipline, and 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝘁𝘄𝗼 𝗼𝗳 𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘆𝗮𝘀’ 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀.

Today, the spotlight shines not only on the champions, but also on the coaches who helped make it all possible.

Congratulations, Coach Ariel Bedic and Coach Sam Pastera Flores, 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗩𝗜 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂.

PALARO STORIES | Gintong Medalya, Bangka para sa Ama

Halos dalawang taon nang nanghihiram ng bangka ang ama ni Jhon Laurence Espaldon matapos wasakin ng bagyo ang sarili nilang bangka—dagdag na hirap para sa pamilyang umaasa sa pangingisda para mabuhay.

“Nanghihiram lang po si Papa ng bangka kasi nasira po sa bagyo ‘yung bangka ni Papa, kaya ‘yun ang bibilhin ko ‘pag nakuha ko ang incentives,” sabi ng 17-anyos na atleta mula Bulusan, Sorsogon. “Para may sarili na po siyang magamit para sa amin.”

Kaya sa bawat hagis ni Laurence sa kanyang unang sabak sa 2026 Palarong Pambansa, hindi lang medalya ang nakataya.

“Mahirap po yung nanghihiram lang kami kasi kapag nasisira, kailangan mo pang bayaran at ipagawa,” dagdag pa niya.

Sa kanyang debut sa Palaro, nagtala siya ng 62.48 meters sa javelin throw — isang bagong personal best at bagong Palaro record. Bago ang kompetisyon, nasa 54 meters pa lamang ang kanyang pinakamalayong bato.

“Hindi ko po ine-expect na mananalo ako,” aniya.

Ngunit para kay Laurence, higit pa sa medalya ang athletics; daan ito para mabigyan ng mas magandang buhay ang kanyang pamilya. Pangarap din niyang mabasag balang araw ang SEA Games record na 72.93 meters na hawak ni Danilo Fresnido mula pa noong 2009.

Sa ngayon, hindi lang simbolo ng tagumpay sa sports ang kanyang gintong medalya, kundi pag-asa rin na balang araw, hindi na kailangang manghiram pa ng bangka ang kanyang ama.

A young and dynamic basketball mentor, Coach Jasper Magno has proven that leadership, strategy, and heart can build champions.

Once a proud player of San Sebastian College, Coach Jasper represented NCR in the Palarong Pambansa 2013. Years later, he returned to the national stage — no longer as a player, but as a coach carrying the dreams of young athletes.

Recognized for his outstanding player shuffling, game T management, and defensive systems, Coach Jasper empowered every athlete to contribute with confidence and purpose. Under his leadership, the CALABARZON Heroes displayed disciplined basketball — strong offensive ex*****on, relentless defense, effective boxing out, and consistent hustle throughout all four quarters.

His coaching philosophy is rooted in:
