On February 17–25, 2026, the CPU Tumandok Dance Company, representing Central Philippine University and the Philippines, participated in a cultural exchange program in Osaka, Japan, with visits to the cities of Kawachinagano and Hashimoto. The program highlighted cultural sharing and artistic collaboration through dance workshops, school engagements, and stage performances.

During the exchange, CPUTDC conducted dance workshops where Filipino movements and traditional styles were introduced to Japanese students, encouraging interactive learning and cultural appreciation. They also performed selected school presentations and showcased their acclaimed production “Saludo Sais: PAMANA Sayaw ng Bayan,” which celebrates the rich cultural heritage of the Philippines through various regional dances.

The experience was further enriched by school visits, where both Filipino and Japanese students exchanged performances and participated in cultural activities that strengthened mutual understanding and friendship. Through these meaningful interactions, the CPU Tumandok Dance Company served as cultural ambassadors, promoting Filipino identity while gaining a deeper appreciation of Japan’s local communities and traditions.

On February 10, 2026, the CPU Tumandok Dance Company proudly gathered on stage after their vibrant performance of Saludo Sais “PAMANA” Sayaw ng Bayan, held at Central Philippine University, Jaro, Iloilo City. The production showcased the rich and diverse cultural heritage of the Philippines, highlighting the beauty of various regional dances through colorful costumes, dynamic movements, and expressive storytelling.

Saludo Sais is a tribute to the country’s many islands, celebrating unity in diversity and honoring the traditions that shape Filipino identity. The performance featured a rich repertoire of dances, including Cordillera, Maria Clara, Tribal, Muslim, and Rural, each representing distinct cultural roots and traditions. Every segment reflected unique influences, from indigenous practices to Hispanic-inspired elegance, bringing together a powerful representation of the nation’s history and artistry.

The group also extends their heartfelt thanks to the BPED dancers for their captivating opening dance, which set the tone for the entire performance and energized the audience from the very beginning.

The group is deeply grateful for the opportunity to share their passion and talent on stage. This performance not only strengthened their bond as a company but also served as a meaningful reminder of the importance of preserving and promoting Filipino culture through dance.

Dancers from Central Philippine University Tumandok Dance Company (CPU) participated in a cultural exchange program in Japan, organized by the Kawachinagano International Friendship Association (KIFA) in February 2026.

The CPU Tumandok Dance Company engaged in school visits, community activities, and cultural sharing while staying with Japanese host families. These experiences allowed students to immerse themselves in Japanese culture and build meaningful international connections.

The highlight of the program was the performance “SALUDO: SAIS-Heritage Dances of the People,” where students performed traditional Filipino dances from different regions. The show featured indigenous, Maria Clara, and rural dances, showcasing the richness of Philippine culture and earning warm appreciation from the audience.

Through this exchange, CPU students not only displayed their talent but also strengthened cultural understanding and global friendship.
