ILOILO – The relentless anti-drug campaign of Police Regional Office 6 (PRO6) scored another victory after operatives of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO), through its Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU), successfully conducted a buy-bust operation that resulted in the confiscation of approximately 650 grams of suspected shabu and the arrest of five suspects in Brgy. Padios, Sara, Iloilo at about 7:57 PM of September 6, 2025.

The arrested individuals were identified only through their aliases as “Brok-brok,” “Anthony,” “Dexter,” “Bianca,” and “Conny.” Alias “Brok-brok” is tagged as high value individual while alias “Anthony” and “Dexter” are classified as street level individuals. The operation was spearheaded by PDEU Team 3 with the support of PDEU Team 2, RID6, PIU-IPPO, Sara Municipal Police Station, and the 2nd Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Company (IPMFC).

Recovered from the suspects were several of sachets of suspected shabu weighing approximately 650 grams, a homemade caliber .9mm revolver, and other non-drug items.

Cases for Violation of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) will be filed against the suspects. The offense is punishable by life imprisonment and a fine ranging from PHP500,000 to PHP10,000,000, depending on the circumstances of the offense.

Meanwhile, alias “Dexter” will also face charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Fi****ms and Ammunition Regulation Act, which carries a penalty of 12 to 20 years of imprisonment and a fine of up to PHP400,000.

Police Brigadier General JOSEFINO D LIGAN, Regional Director of PRO6, commended the operating units for their successful operation.

“This accomplishment sends a strong message that PRO6 remains steadfast in its campaign against illegal drugs and fi****ms. We will not allow these substances and weapons to destroy the peace and future of our communities. I call on the public to continue supporting our efforts by providing timely and accurate information to the police,” PBGEN LIGAN said.

ILOILO CITY – Police Regional Office 6 (PRO6) has intensified its campaign against loose fi****ms across Western Visayas as part of its continuing efforts to ensure public safety and maintain peace and order in the region.

Under the directive of Regional Director, PBGEN JOSEFINO D LIGAN, all provincial and city police offices were instructed to sustain operations aimed at recovering unlicensed fi****ms and encouraging holders of expired licenses to renew them.

PBGEN LIGAN emphasized that loose fi****ms often find their way into criminal activities, posing threats to communities. “The strict enforcement of our campaign against loose fi****ms is part of our proactive approach to prevent crimes, especially gun-related incidents. By removing loose fi****ms from the streets, we are reducing opportunities for violence and strengthening peace in Western Visayas,” he said.

As part of this intensified drive, San Remegio Municipal Police Station (MPS) of Antique Police Provincial Office (PPO) seized two fi****ms in a search warrant operation on September 5, 2025 in Barangay Panpanan I, San Remigio, Antique that resulted in the arrest of a suspect known as alias “Tingting,” 54, a farmer and a resident of the barangay, for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Fi****ms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

The operation, conducted at around 11:20 AM by virtue of a search warrant issued by RTC Branch 11, San Jose, Antique, led to the confiscation of two (2) homemade 12-gauge shotguns (long fi****ms) without serial numbers and two (2) live ammunition (12-gauge).

Meanwhile, for August 2025, PRO6 accounted for a total of 153 loose fi****ms across the region. Of this number, 37 were recovered through law enforcement operations while 116 were voluntarily surrendered during Oplan Katok visits, symposiums, pulong-pulong, and other advocacy activities.

PRO6 likewise called on barangay officials and local government units to support the initiative by raising awareness in their communities.

Through these combined and uninterrupted efforts, PRO6 reaffirms its mission to reduce crimes involving loose fi****ms and to make Western Visayas a safer, more secure community.
