Young Samalenyos gathered at Peñaplata Central Elementary and SPED School from August 15-16, 2026 to try their hands at the ultimate frisbee. Part of the Smile Samal Youth Festival under the Linggo ng Kabataan 2026 celebrations, the two-day clinic and exhibition game aimed to get the youth moving while building teamwork, discipline, and new friendships on the field.

Organized by the Local Youth Development Office alongside the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation and local youth groups, the event gave participants a chance to learn the ropes of the sport from scratch. Beyond the physical workout, the weekend showcased how sports and recreation help keep the younger generation active, connected, and engaged in their community.

The Samal Flying Disc Association proudly took part in the 3-Day “Get Ready, SMILE!: Kabataang Handa, Samalenyong Ligtas sa Sakuna” held last May 20–22 at Fernandez Beach Garden Resort, spearheaded by the LYDO Samal Youth Development Program in partnership with the Bureau of Fire Protection - IGACOS Fire Station and the Sangguniang Kabataan - Island Garden City of Samal

Beyond the game, this experience reminded our athletes that being part of a community also means being ready to respond when others need help. Through hands-on discussions and practical demonstrations, our players gained essential first aid knowledge, emergency response awareness, and life-saving skills that extend far beyond the field.
