FUN FACT: Based on available boxing records, Renden Oppas of La Trinidad, Benguet and Sadanga, Mt. Province is the only Igorot boxer in recent decades to win a regional championship title abroad under an opponent’s promotion.
Oppas captured the WBC Australasia Minimumweight Title in Australia.
Our other fighter, KJ Natuplag of Ifugao, also won regional titles abroad, capturing the WBO Oriental and WBC Asia Featherweight titles in Dubai, but under a home promotion (FCC Promotions).
At the moment, Renden Oppas and KJ Natuplag remain the only cordilleran boxers to have won regional championship titles overseas in recent decades.
