-Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid license

CPR SUCCESS STORY TIME! Our previous BLS ACLS instructor, Sheila Tabano, has sent her CPR story to us. ---
I have never imagined that I will be doing CPR outside work. The last time I did CPR to a real patient was 10 years ago. As a theatre nurse here in the UK, I never encountered a cardiac arrest on the table and hoping not to have one in the future.

So, during a Filipino event, one of our fellow kababayans was found pulseless on the ground. Devastating! A few rounds of CPR had already been done when I stepped in. When the AED arrived, I knew exactly what to do. Right after I placed the pads on the patient's chest, the voice instruction made me remember everything I used to do back when I was still part of Largado Training Center as BLS/ACLS instructor. Instantly my commanding voice came out. "CLEAR!"- muscle memory talaga. We gave one shock to the patient then resumed CPR straight away commanding the compressor to push harder. When it was my turn to do CPR our kababayan suddenly moved. We saved him!

I was so blessed and favoured that once l was given a chance to have an in depth training and practiced everything within standards. I am proud that I was able to execute it properly and saved someone's life .
