Soft Tennis Pilipinas The page is dedicated to all Soft Tennis Players in the Philippines and other Countries. Soft tennis community will grow and learn how to play the sport.

Soft tennis is a racket game played on a court of two halves, separated by a net. Like regular tennis, it is played by individuals (singles) or pairs (doubles), whose object is to hit the ball over the net, landing within the confines of the court, with the aim of preventing one's opponent from being able to hit it back. Soft tennis differs from regular tennis in that it uses soft rubber balls instead of hard yellow balls. It is played primarily in Asia, especially in Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Thailand and the Philippines. In 2004 Soft tennis was introduced into Europe. Belgium, the Netherlands, Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Great Britain, and India all now have active Soft tennis federations. All of them are also members of the European Soft tennis Federation, and the International Federation JSTA. History

At the end of the 19th century, tennis was introduced to Japan by a Western missionary, and it was later modified to better suit Japanese tastes. A special racquet and ball were developed, and the game became known as soft tennis


Competition

Most of the rules for soft tennis are the same as those for regular tennis. When the rules were revised in 1992, singles became a formal event. This revision also enabled a forward player in doubles to serve. The serve plays an important role in a team's chances of winning. The world championship is held after every 4 years through out the world.The next world championship will be played in Korea from 27th October-2November 2011. From our humble beginnings to standing on the Asian Games podium — what a journey it has been for Philippine Soft Tennis!

Our Women’s Team, the proud Asian Games Bronze Medalists, was invited to PTV Sports to look back on the sacrifices, struggles and emotions behind our historic victory. A moment we had dreamed of for years finally became reality: the first-ever Asian Games medal for Philippine Soft Tennis since 1994 and the first medal for Team Philippines in the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026. 🥹❤️

To PTVSports Network, maraming salamat for being part of our story through the years. You have witnessed our journey from zero medals to SEA Games gold, Asian Championship Gold, World Championship bronze and now an Asian Games bronze medal.

Thank you for continuing to give our sport a voice, for recognizing the hard work behind every achievement and for sharing our milestones with the Filipino people. You didn’t just cover our victories — you helped tell the story of how we got there.

This medal may be historic but it is also a reminder of how far we’ve come and how much more we can achieve together.

𝗦𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗮𝘁, 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗣𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘀! 🇵🇭🫡

With a haul of 29 medals — 4 golds, 9 silvers, and 16 bronzes at the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, the Philippine contingent achieved the country’s highest medal count at the games since 1966 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Beyond the podium, every single member of the Philippine delegation showed up and poured their heart out. Fighting through tough draws, breaking personal records, and lifting fellow teammates, our Filipino athletes exemplified the true heart of a champion.

While we may not have taken home every forecasted win, our team proved that Philippine sports is moving forward together.

Maraming salamat sa pagpapatunay na kapag ang laban ay para sa bayan, walang nasayang na pawis at sakripisyo. Mabuhay ang atletang Pilipino!

🇵🇭 TEAM PHILIPPINES HEROES’ WELCOME 🥉

The Philippine Soft Tennis Women’s Team was among the national athletes honored at the Team Philippines Heroes’ Welcome held at Century Park Hotel, celebrating the Asian Games medalists and their remarkable achievements at the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026.

A special moment for the team came when Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) Chairman Cong. Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino personally acknowledged and remembered the girls, sharing how delighted he was to see them again. He recalled receiving the news that the Philippine Soft Tennis Women’s Team had won the first medal for Team Philippines—a historic bronze—just as he had landed in Nagoya.

Our Women’s Team—Bien Zoleta, Princess Catindig, Christy Sañosa, Shyryn Salazar, and Hilary Paas—also had the opportunity to take photos with fellow Asian Games medalists, exchange stories, and reminisce about how they cheered and supported one another throughout the Games.

Different sports. Different journeys. One Team Philippines. 🇵🇭

A beautiful reminder that every medal carries not only the hard work of the athletes, but also the pride of an entire nation.
