A promising Blue Eagle whose journey with Ateneo was just about to begin, Rene was set to make his debut in the 19th Filoil EcoOil Preseason Cup.

He had just arrived in Manila from Davao four days ago, carrying with him dreams, discipline, and a future full of possibility. During a team-building activity in Aurora, his life came to a sudden and heartbreaking end at only 19 years old.
