Senator Imee Marcos Questions ICC-Linked Arrest Attempt Inside Senate Premises

MANILA, Philippines — Senator Imee Marcos expressed concern and strong commentary regarding the reported situation involving Senator Ronald dela Rosa inside the Senate premises after former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, accompanied by alleged members of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), reportedly attempted to serve a warrant connected to the International Criminal Court (ICC).

According to Senator Marcos, the incident raised serious questions regarding protocol, jurisdiction, and respect for the independence of the Philippine Senate as an institution. She emphasized that any enforcement action conducted within Senate grounds must strictly follow constitutional procedures and proper coordination with Senate authorities.

Senator Marcos reportedly described the development as “deeply alarming,” noting that actions perceived as politically motivated could further intensify tensions within the political landscape.

The issue stemmed from ongoing controversies surrounding the ICC investigation related to the Duterte administration’s anti-illegal drug campaign, where Senator dela Rosa previously served as chief implementer during his tenure as Philippine National Police chief.

As of this writing, there has been no official confirmation from the NBI regarding the alleged warrant service attempt, while several lawmakers and political observers continue to debate the legality and implications of any ICC-related action within Philippine jurisdiction.

Meanwhile, supporters of Senator dela Rosa criticized the reported incident, calling it an attempt to humiliate and pressure a sitting senator inside a constitutionally protected institution.

The Senate leadership has yet to release a formal statement regarding the matter.

RECORD CROWD TARGETED FOR SUAREZ FEATURE BOUT IN SAN FRANCISCO

A historic boxing spectacle is set to take place in San Francisco on July 11, as organizers aim to break the long-standing American attendance record for a boxing event by drawing more than 135,000 spectators to Civic Center Plaza.

The massive outdoor boxing card will feature undefeated Filipino contender Charly Suarez as part of a world-class lineup designed to bring elite boxing action to a large-scale public audience.

Headlining the event is Anthony Olascuaga, who will defend his WBO flyweight world title against Andy Dominguez. Meanwhile, the unbeaten Suarez, carrying an impressive 18-0 professional record, will face American fighter Manuel Avila in the featured main undercard bout.

Promoter Ed Pereira described the upcoming event as an unprecedented showcase intended to place San Francisco at the forefront of the boxing world.

“This will be a show like the boxing world has never seen before,” Pereira said.
“San Francisco has always been a city that stands for something special, and on July 11, it will stand at the center of the boxing world.”

The current U.S. boxing attendance record is widely believed to belong to the 1941 clash between Tony Zale and Billy Pryor at Juneau Park, which reportedly attracted 135,132 fans.

Veteran promoter Sampson Lewkowicz is attached to the project alongside Pereira, while Hall of Fame boxer Christy Martin has also expressed support for the ambitious event.

“When he came to me with this event, I saw immediately what it could be,” Lewkowicz stated.
“This is not just a fight card, this is a statement.”

Organizers also confirmed that the event is expected to stream live on YouTube, with more fights and major announcements anticipated in the coming weeks.
