π£οΈ 2. COMBINE WORDS + GESTURES π£οΈ

ππ»βDOWN/ UPβ Ituro ang daliri pababa or pataas

Mas gusto nila makinig sayo kapag mas EXCITING pakinggan ang boses mo!
π¬ 5. EXPAND THEIR WORDS π¬
When your little one says "ball," expand on it!

π² Screens can grab your babyβs ATTENTIONβ¦
BUT DO THEY LEARN WORDS FROM IT? π€
DR. PATRICIA KUHL, a professor and co-director in the Institute of Learning & Brain Sciences of the University of Washington, asked:
π₯οΈ βDO INFANTS LEARN FROM A MACHINE?β π₯οΈ
And the results were:
π² NO! Babies UNDER ONE do NOT learn WORDS from SCREENS! π²
Yes, they get WOWED by it, but all they can process are the sounds, colors, and movements (itβs more of a SENSORY EXPERIENCE for them)βNOT THE WORDS.
π₯Ό She conducted an EXPERIMENT:
EXPERIMENT A: Babies listening to the mom IN-PERSON: teaching basic words like βflowerβ and βwaterβ.
EXPERIMENT B: Babies listening to the mom teaching the SAME words βflowerβ and βwaterβ through a TELEVISION.
WHAT WAS THE RESULT?
π Later on, the babies were asked to POINT to what they had been taught. The babies of the LIVE TALKING MOMS pointed to the CORRECT PICTURES, while the babies of the VIDEO MOMS did not!
So, what can we do to make them LEARN THE WORDS?
π£οΈ TALK TO THEM IN-PERSON!
βοΈ BONUS TIP: USE PARENTESE!
How to do PARENTESE?
Parentese means:
βοΈ using correct speech sounds.
βοΈ using slow, sing-song voice.
βοΈ doing big facial expressions.
βοΈ repeating words.
