What's in the Cordillera Mountain Ultra 2022 Aid stations? This is the Ambasa aid station filled with 10 trays of boiled eggs, 3 crates of patupat (sticky rice wrapped in banana leaves), a crate of boiled bananas, freshly brewed Arabica coffee, boiled camote and water.
All of these have ingredients sourced from the very villages you pass through during the race. The sticky rice comes from the rice terraces you ran through, the coffee from the Arabica coffee trees around the villages, bananas from the farms you can see when you run, eggs from their chickens, banana leaves all sourced locally. This is our commitment to investing in the local value chain creating not only jobs and income for those that do the cooking and catering of these snacks but also making sure that everyone in the village benefits because no one person can supply all this food for all you runners so they need to buy from the produce of everyone in the village.
Keeping everything local also means our carbon footprint for your food is very low and we produce very little if any plastic waste because everything in the aid station is biodegradable.
That is our commitment to sustainability and making sure those that live in the beautiful mountains we pass thru all benefit from the CMU.
