MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Youth Dreamers (PYD) are set to take their talents to international shores once again. Accepting a prestigious invitation from Yimpact Guam, the Dreamers will deploy a formidable squad to compete in an elite Under-23 (23U) 3x3 basketball tournament scheduled for June 10 to 11, 2026.
The two-day, high-stakes tournament will be hosted at the state-of-the-art gymnasium of St. Anthony Catholic School in Guam, USA.
A Synergy of Elite Coaching
This upcoming tournament is the latest chapter in a long-standing, fruitful partnership between two pillars of grassroots basketball development: Coach Jimmy Yi, Founder and Director of Yimpact Guam, and Coach Beaujing Acot, the visionary head of the Philippine Youth Dreamers.
Coach Yi, a revered figure in Pacific basketball, boasts an impressive resume that includes numerous coaching stints with the Guam National Team for both the boys' and girls' divisions. His collaboration with Coach Acot has consistently provided top-tier international exposure for emerging Filipino athletes, bridging the gap between local talent and global competition.
Meet the Grid: Team Philippines' 23U Roster
For this grueling 3x3 showdown, the Philippine Youth Dreamers are sending a lean, mean, and well-rounded roster composed of standout student-athletes from top-tier colleges in the National Capital Region (NCR).
Known for their versatility, basketball IQ, and grit, these three players are primed to banner the country's flag:
• Franco Jose “Papu” Capistrano (Treston College)
• Franchesko Juan “Pankie”Capistrano (Enderun College)
• Julio Lorenzo "Julio" Teruel
(University of Santo Tomas)
The 3x3 Advantage: With the fast-paced, physical nature of FIBA-style 3x3 basketball, the unique skill sets of the Capistrano brothers and the collegiate pedigree of Teruel from the UAAP's UST stable are expected to give the Dreamers a dynamic edge against Guam's best.
Raising the Bar for Grassroots Basketball
The tournament serves as a crucial platform for these under-23 athletes to test their mettle against international opposition. For Coach Beaujing Acot, the mission remains clear: to keep dreaming big and playing harder.
As Team Philippines prepares to fly out to Guam, the local basketball community stands firmly behind them, confident that these NCR collegiate standouts will showcase the trademark Filipino puso (heart) on the hardcourts of St. Anthony Catholic School.
