FIRST FROM PATEROS: Giancarlo Capco a Pateros Scientist and Technologist Joins DTI Tatak Pinoy Defense Manufacturing Technical Working Group
PATEROS, METRO MANILA — History was made as Giancarlo Capco, renowned Pateros Scientist-Technologist, has officially been included as the first-ever representative from Pateros to join the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Tatak Pinoy Defense Manufacturing Technical Working Group, tasked to craft standards, guidelines, and implement the Tatak Pinoy Seal and Republic Act 11981 or the Tatak Pinoy Act — the landmark law that elevates locally made Filipino products to global standards .
His inclusion marks a major milestone not just for his hometown, but for the entire local defense and technology industry, cementing Pateros’ place as a rising hub of Filipino innovation and manufacturing excellence.
Key Highlights of His Appointment
As a core member of the working group, Capco is included in making technical reviews, set quality benchmarks, and ensure defense and security products qualify for the prestigious Tatak Pinoy Seal — the official mark certifying that goods are designed, developed, and made in the Philippines, meeting both national and international quality and safety norms. He is the only scientist from Metro Manila’s smallest town to hold this national-level post, bringing decades of hands-on expertise in defense systems, renewable energy, and tactical technology.
“For too long, we relied on imported defense equipment and systems mostly are hard to under go maintenance due to imported parts. Now, through Tatak Pinoy, we are building our own standards, our own supply chain, and our own national capability — and I am proud to bring the Pateros Beyond 2000 Mission of my uncle Mayor Atty. Jose T Capco Jr., The I Love Pateros Vision of my father Mayor Atty. Rosendo Capco and the historical patriotic legacy of my grandfather the Pateros Military Mayor Major Jose Capco Sr of Pateros 1945 ’ to this national table that will surely elevate Pateros as center for local defense development hub ” Capco said.
Harvard Recognition: Pateros Represents on Global Stage
Long before this national accomplishment, Capco already made history as the first scientist and technologist from Pateros selected to represent the Philippines and Far Eastern University at the Harvard Business School Build It Program in Boston, USA — the prestigious global platform for innovators, inventors, and tech leaders.
He stood alongside top minds from over 40 countries, presenting his homegrown technology made in Pateros Philippines and known developed to be part of various military and police bases Technologies such as the Calriger SolarRev Archome Microgrid Powerstation, SolarRev ASOG2 Military Powerbank, and CALRIGER WOLFSOG Laser Technology — systems designed specifically for Philippine climate, terrain, and needs. His work earned international praise, proving that Filipino ingenuity can compete and lead globally.

Under his firm Calriger Defense Capco Technologies and the Pateros Military Mayor Major Jose Capco Sr. Defense & Technologies Research Center, Giancarlo Capco has become the first Pateros scientist to receive multiple citations, awards, and recognitions from the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police, and uniformed services.
His breakthrough innovations are widely adopted:
