With a unique curriculum that encompasses various dance styles and techniques, the systematized method and approach to instruction highly takes into account students’ anatomy at various ages and levels so that the training is first and foremost physically safe, technically effective, and artistically interesting for them. We refer to the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and use the Australian Conservatoire of Ballet (ACB) syllabus for ballet while the teacher/s of the Jazz, Contemporary, Tap, Hip Hop, B-boying, Social Dance, POI/ Fire Dance classes employ the best technique available to provide students with exceptional foundation & performance skills. Constantly at work and in performance with acclaimed local dance artists, Spotlight Dance Co. faculty as well as the students are strikingly different from others in the industry, most of which are pioneers in Cebu in their field or genre of expertise. Discipline, dedication, full knowledge of theater decorum and etiquette are the core values that the system imparts together with technique training and artistic mastery. Regular courses in dance (Classical Ballet, Contemporary Dance, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, B-boying, Social Dance for all levels) including performances & workshops are offered from July to March. From April to May, the school conducts a summer (6-week intensive) technique training culminating in a dance showcase. Spotlight Dance Co. aims to train its students on a range of dance skills, which includes Classical Ballet, Contemporary/Modern Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Break Dance, Tap, Ballroom, POI/Fire Dance and other dance genres at affordable and reasonable prices. It plans to expand this dance skills offering, once it is able to find a more locations/ branches in Cebu, to include pole dancing, yoga, pilates and so much more. concluded its first ever summer dance recital, F.Y.E. (For Your Entertainment), on May 16, 2010 at City Sports Club, where close to 20 talented boys and girls showcased their skills in different forms of dance. Spotlight’s first-ever year-end recital entitled ORIGIN was held on February 20, 2011 at the Cultural Center, University of San Carlos – Girls High School. TRIBUTE TO THE MUSIC ICONS, Spotlight’s second summer recital was held on May 22, 2011 at Cinema 1, SM City Cebu. Its students have gained more experience in dance as they join and become part of events such as, the most recent and the biggest Catholic event in the Philippines, Kerygma Conference 2011 on November 26 at the Waterfront Hotel, Lahug. aims to further elevate the status of dance in Cebu by discovering and honing talents, no matter how young or old, and by offering QUALITY and PROFESSIONAL dance training to more and more students from Cebu and the Visayas region. It is also, in the future, targeting the extension of dance scholarships to deserving and qualified children and adults. plans to invite prominent names in the dance world to conduct workshops and seminars for students namely the Philippine All Stars (2006 & 2008 World Hip Hop Champions), Maneuvers, G-Force, Hotlegs, CADs, UP Street Dance, Cross Effects,and Stylettos. At the helm of Spotlight Dance Co. is its Creative Director, Ms. Tan, an artist with almost 23 years of experience in dance and 9 years in teaching.
