𝘼𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙎𝙥𝙚𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙧𝙨

Maria Luisa Guinto, PhD, RPsy, is a full professor in the College of Human Kinetics and a recognised UP Scientist at the University of the Philippines Diliman. A leading figure in sport and exercise psychology in the Philippines, she integrates research, teaching, and professional practice to advance athlete well-being and performance. She was the inaugural chairperson of the PAP Sport and Exercise Psychology Special Interest Group. She is the recipient of the 2025 PAP Independent Research Grant and has previously received UP Outright Research Grants twice, in 2016 and 2023, as well as the Federal Assistance Award from the U.S. Department of State in 2018. She has also been awarded multiple research dissemination grants supporting presentations at national and international conferences. Her work focuses on athlete identity, resilience, well-being, and culturally grounded sport psychology. She is committed to mentoring emerging scholars and strengthening the field'research and publication capacity.

Sixtus Dane A. Ramos is a clinical psychologist and international certified addiction professional practicing addiction treatment, relapse prevention, and trauma-informed care for more than a decade. He is also a postdoctoral research fellow at the Department of Psychology at De La Salle University. He has published studies on trauma, substance use disorder treatment, therapeutic communities for addiction, and locus-of-hope in Scopus-Indexed journals. He developed and tested the Locus-of-Hope Enhancement Program (LEAP) for Well-Being and Recovery that boosted recovery outcomes of people with substance use problems in a therapeutic community. He is an active member of the Psychology of Hope and Well-being Lab at De La Salle University (HopeLab@DLSU). His current research focuses on adapting LEAP for other vulnerable populations, developing positive recovery-oriented approaches for substance use disorders, and positive interventions within the community.

Our very own co-chair has been selected under the High Performance Unit of the Philippine Sports Institute as Lead Psychologist for the Sport Psychology Unit of the Tour of Luzon—an international cycling event that gathers elite athletes in one of the country’s most prestigious races.

From once working alone to now leading a team of equally passionate individuals, this journey reflects growth, purpose, and shared commitment.
