CHARLES CHUA ⚾️

Left Hamstring Strain during baseball semifinals to Finals MVP & Champion

Charles strained his hamstring during our semifinals clash while chasing after the ball. Couldn't walk, squat or bend over without pain (7/10 pain). As a catcher, his position is as important as can be in dictating game pace and outcomes. With 2 days in between Games 1,2 and 3. We had to act quick because if left untreated, it might hinder his catching and batting as well. His base running was the most affected but adjustments in the game plan were made to ensure that despite his injury he can still maximize his output in batting and catching. And lo behold, FINALS MVP. Did the work to be able to play or just be able to move when he should have been resting in between Final games. Thanks to the PTs a well who helped him be game ready. Determination in full display. Hit the winning run at the bottom of the 9th, Game 3 Finals. Couldn't write a better script than this.

⚾️ 3-PEAT CHAMPIONS πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†

FINALS MVP: CHARLES CHUA
BEST PITCHER: HILARO 'JONG' ESPINA

what a season. field and schedule restrictions were the biggest battle this season. From only being able to hit the gym once a week since early February and not being able to do twice a week sessions during the pre-season at most weeks. The biggest challenge was getting them in tip top shape while maintaining adaptations to peak for the Finals. Not ideal but we adapt. And adapt we did. 3 peat. Last 4 innings were the longest innings I've experienced or maybe it was just due to the intensity of the game that made it seem so long. Heart rate went up nang medyo mataas taas. Still, despite being down during the first half of Game 3 they showed and shined that true bulldog mentality. 16 hits during the Finals. Thank you for the trust Coach Romar, Coach Robin, Coach Mon, Coach Diarao, Coach Kent and thank you for your help as well in developing them into amazing people and athletes. Thank you Sir Wopsy, PTs, Athletics Office. Thank you to the players for coming through when it was needed the most.

Congrats Makeio on getting silver this 2025 AAU National Taekwondo Championships! πŸ₯ˆ

He's had 3 surgeries to his knees before starting with me. He then twisted his knee a bit from a turning kick that didn't land during the the 1st round of the USA National Championships a few days before AAU. Fixed it up a bit then won silver at the AAU Nat Champs a few days after.

Past injuries getting better. Body getting stronger. More work to come. Onto the next match.

Body composition for NU Taekwondo - Kyorugi. πŸ₯‹

See how some of our athletes have changed their body composition the past year. Some lost a bit more body fat. Some needed to lose a bit more weight to transfer to a lower weight category. Some needed to maintain weight while increasing muscle mass. That's just how weight category combat sports goes.

Body composition sometimes can't be visually noticeable on a day to day basis but sometimes you just have to look at the bigger picture. You just might see the big changes but at the same time for some, there doesn't need to be.
