5 Amazing Things We Can Learn From Defeat - Evolve Daily 08/07/2018

5 days ago my son had a setback during training that led to a complete, undisplaced fracture of his right distal tibial. While training for the last two legs of the Supercross Series he has been focused on this whole summer, he attempted to do a jump which he overdid which made him land on his foot thus breaking his right leg slightly above the ankle.

Unknowingly speaking, it was ironic for me as a mom because they said he was doing really well during training and on the last set, this had to happen. I wasn’t even there to see what transpired. Probably good because I would’ve lost breath at the sight of him falling.

Now he’s in a bootcast for 4 weeks and for PT for another two more. Meaning no motocross for 6 weeks. That’s actually already a long time especially for building mx athletes like him. They say a full week of not riding is already a big thing. And determination and lots of training helps all these great MX riders.

Unfortunately for my son who was leading the amateur class B, as a beginner, winning the whole series with flying colors could boost his confidence in this sport and make his first track record for a good future in this. As he sat and watched the last round yesterday, I saw his eyes and how he really wanted to join but couldn’t. I saw the will to want to continue but also the learnings that brought him to know the lesson of the mistake he did and learn from it while learning about defeat from injury as well.

As a mom, I try my best to teach and show my children the values he gets from this sport that they can bring with them until adulthood.
This article although from a different sport is something I wish to share with everybody. And that putting our children in sports will teach them the most valuable life lessons they may know - and that not finishing from injury, or also handling defeat and failure may also be beneficial to them.
As the article states
1) That winning isn’t everything
2) That what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger
3) That weaknesses can be turned into strengths
4) That giving up is not the answer
5) That failing is better than not trying

So yes, sometimes falling is an important factor in rising up again. Because some things in life are beyond our control, and doesn’t go as planned, but thats ok.

Parang sa buhay lang yan, kelangan sumemplang para matuto. 😂

Getting him mind and body ready for a his comeback, but for now, MXGP muna sa PS haha 😅

5 Amazing Things We Can Learn From Defeat - Evolve Daily Let's face it. At some point in life, we all have to deal with failure, or defeat – whether we like it or not. You gotta love Motodads! 😅 for all the support, motivation, inspiration they give our Motochildren.
They are the inspiration for strength that Motomoms have to support our children’s sport. Motodads are strong and fierce but gentle and supportive and they want our Motokids to have the guidance and training to excell in this.
Cheers to all inspiring Motodads! Happy Fathers Day! (**Pic not ours, just found it super funny😅)
