MARINA ADVISORY NO. 2025-40

🗓️ Implementation Date: 01 January 2026

MARINA has released Advisory No. 2025-40 regarding important updates on Basic Training (BT), particularly Updating Training on Basic Training – Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (BT-PSSR) and the implementation of the Revised Basic Training.
Please take note of the official guidelines below:

🔹 1. For Seafarers who completed the BT course but did not apply for the corresponding COP:
➡️ You are required to undergo Updating Training on BT-PSSR or take the Revised Basic Training, whichever is applicable, before applying for your COP.
🔹 2. For Seafarers holding a valid COP in BT issued prior to 01 November 2025:
2.1 📌 If your COP has less than 2 years validity, you may apply for its revalidation in accordance with MC-SC-2021-04 (or any future revisions) and you are required to take the Updating Training on BT-PSSR.
2.2 📌 If your COP has 2 or more years of validity, you may continue using it until expiry, but you are still required to carry the Certificate of Training Completion for the Updating Training on BT-PSSR.
