A few weeks ago, the Philippine Ching Yuen Athletic Association Season 13 officially came to a close, with MGC New Life Academy making history as the first-ever three-peat champions in the league. It was a fitting ending to a season filled with intensity, growth, and unforgettable moments.

Hosted by Uno High School, Season 13 will be remembered as one for the books. It was packed with highlights and record-breaking performances, showcasing the true spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie at its highest level. More than just competition, the season became a showcase of Filipino-Chinese talent, with every team contributing to the league’s continued rise. As the curtains fall on this historic season, one thing is clear, the level of play, passion, and pride displayed has raised the bar even higher.

Uno High School will pass the hosting duties to Philippine Cultural College for the upcoming Season 14, marking a meaningful return for PCC, which last hosted the league in its early years during Season 3. PCC is also one of the founding members of PCYAA, together with Saint Jude Catholic School, Uno High School, and Grace Christian College. Before the formation of PCYAA, PCC competed in various leagues such as MASA and SCAA, but the search for a true home and a sense of family remained. It was within the PCYAA community where PCC found that belonging, competing against fellow Filipino-Chinese schools while helping strengthen and uplift the Fil-Chi community as a whole.

Since becoming part of the league, PCC’s journey in PCYAA has been truly impressive. Across all sporting events, they have consistently performed at a high level, regularly finishing as champions or among the top seeds while setting the standard for excellence. The Golden Seagulls Athletic Program is well known not only within the Filipino-Chinese community but also on the national stage, producing athletes such as Fortunato “Atoy” Co, Benito “Benny” Cheng, and Bethune “Siot” Tanquingcen in basketball; Roxanne Pimentel-So, Jose Roque, and Benson Bocboc in volleyball; and Lester Pimentel Ong, along with his brother Edwin, W***y Wang, Arvin Ting and Janice Hung in Wushu. This track record reflects PCC’s strong commitment to developing the level of competition in the Fil-Chi community, solidifying its role as one of the pillars of the sports community as it prepares to host a new chapter in PCYAA history.

As Philippine Cultural College takes the reins for Season 14, it carries not just the duty of hosting, but the responsibility of upholding everything PCYAA stands for. This is more than a season; it is a chance to honor the league’s legacy by ensuring that its values of sportsmanship and camaraderie are uplifted and that fair play is upheld at the highest level. PCC is ready to bring the league together once more, delivering a season that will exceed expectations and set a new standard for the years to come.
