During the pre-competition phase, athletes should train more than steps, stamina, and technique. They must also practise how to ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐๐๐ญ๐ ๐ ๐ฌ๐ญ๐จ๐ซ๐ฒ โclearly enough for the judges to see it and strongly enough for the audience to feel it.
Every run-through should answer two questions:
Show a clear intention through your focus, body line, direction, timing, and reaction to your partner.
Let emotion influence your breathing, movement quality, musicality, energy, and connectionโnot just your facial expression.
Include these ideas in full-round simulations, stamina practices, and competition-pressure drills. Decide the intention of every section, make your partnerโs actions affect you, and finish every movement as though someone is watchingโbecause soon, someone will be.

So before the upcoming competition, do not simply ask:
Ask:

Train the steps. Build the stamina. Sharpen the technique. But most importantly

Not every practice should leave you breathlessโand not every correction should wait until youโre already exhausted.
๐๐จ๐ซ๐ซ๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐ ๐๐ซ๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐๐ is where you slow down, identify the problem, and rebuild the movement with better timing, balance, posture, connection, and control.
๐๐ญ๐๐ฆ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐ซ๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐๐ is where you test whether that corrected movement can survive full rounds, pressure, and fatigueโwithout losing technique, musicality, expression, or confidence.
The right order matters:
Because repeating a mistake for five full rounds does not make it strongerโit only makes it harder to correct.
Fix it while fresh. Test it when tired. Perform it when it counts.

A movement may look stunning, feel powerful, and even earn applauseโฆ yet still be technically wrong underneath.
That does not mean the beauty is fake. It means the mechanism still needs work.
In dancesport, we must learn to separate what is:
๐๐จ๐ซ๐ซ๐๐๐ญ โ built on sound technique, timing, balance, and partnership.
๐๐๐๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐ โ creates the desired visual, musical, and emotional impact.
๐๐๐๐๐ฉ๐ญ๐๐๐ฅ๐ โ good enough for the current level, even if it is not yet ideal.
The real goal is not to remove the beauty. It is to refine what produces it.

Great dancers donโt just โmoveโโthey understand ๐ก๐จ๐ฐ ๐ฆ๐จ๐ฏ๐๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ ๐ฐ๐จ๐ซ๐ค๐ฌ.
In dancesport, every step, turn, line, and transition is built on one powerful idea: ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐โthe study of how the body moves.
When dancers understand the difference between ๐ญ๐ซ๐๐ง๐ฌ๐ฅ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง and ๐ซ๐จ๐ญ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง, between ๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐ and ๐ฉ๐๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐ฏ๐ movement, and between ๐๐๐ง๐ญ๐๐ซ ๐จ๐ ๐ฆ๐๐ฌ๐ฌ and ๐๐๐ง๐ญ๐๐ซ ๐จ๐ ๐ ๐ซ๐๐ฏ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ, training becomes clearer, smarter, and safer.
Because sometimes, the problem is not effort.
Sometimes, the problem is not talent.
Sometimes, the problem is simply not knowing
Learn how the body moves, and every correction makes more sense.
Understand the movement, and every performance becomes more intentional.
