The McDonaldโs Kanluran branch is set to open on January 20, and it immediately stands out for its distinctive architectural design. Unlike the typical modern McDonaldโs outlets, this branch thoughtfully mirrors the historic Zavalla Ancestral House, which is located directly across the street.
Situated in Barangay Kanluran, Santa Rosa, Laguna, the branch uniquely blends McDonaldโs globally recognized fast-food branding with heritage-inspired architecture. Its design reflects the character, history, and cultural identity of the surrounding area, creating a harmonious balance between modern commercial development and local tradition.
Notably, this Sta. Rosa branch is the second McDonaldโs franchise owned by actor and entrepreneur Alden Richards, marking another milestone in his growing ventures within the food and beverage industry.
Richards is said to be inspired by his former love team partner, Maine Mendoza, whose family already owns and operates several McDonaldโs branches nationwide. This inspiration encouraged him to venture into the franchise business himself.
In terms of investment, the McDonaldโs franchise fee in the Philippines is estimated at around โฑ2.5 million, while the total cost for this project, including land acquisition and branch construction, is estimated at approximately โฑ37.5 million, highlighting the scale of commitment required to operate a McDonaldโs franchise.
Aside from the monthly 5% royalty fee and 5% marketing fee, the franchisee is also required to pay POS and software license fees equivalent to approximately โฑ176,000 to โฑ294,000 (USD 3,000โ5,000) plus VAT, as well as a โฑ3,000,000 security deposit, which is refundable at the end of the franchise term.
