Same but different.

What’s seems like a simple deadlift actually involves a lot of nuances.

Coach pvmapula :
Bar path deviation: 0.9 cm
Peak bar velocity: 0.71 m/s
Lift tempo: 1.10s

Coach Segovia Strength
Bar path deviation: 0.7 cm
Peak bar velocity: 0.85 m/s
Lift tempo: 1.30s

Same load on the bar. Different individual make-up. Training age and body weight.

Common variable: Methodology to improve strength and power output.

Do you want this kind of detail in your fitness or sport programming? Send us a DM.

As a company with a mission to shape the industry and provide the best coaching services, we are very strategic about the terminologies we use. We consciously use the term “training” because this is what we advocate for and implement daily. There’s nothing wrong with “working out” as it promotes general health, movement and at times, camaraderie. However, in our coaching profession where people trust us with their time and money, the appropriate requirements to foster “training” is key.

What is training like at Momentum Fitness?🙋🏽‍♀️

We have a strict pre-test/assessment before clients can commence training. We religiously conduct post-tests at the end of each training block. We brainstorm as a team to come up with solutions to benefit our clients whether it’s for performance or improving quality of life. In short, we don’t “work-out” our clients. We train them with purpose and evaluate monthly whether we made the right judgement call or applied the best method.

We choose our words carefully as they become action. Our actions become our culture. 👊🏽 And it’s our training culture that sets us apart from the others.

Through years of observation and practice, we noticed that being too flexible is not always a good thing. In fact, we’ve seen a lot of cases where clients complain of pain. Upon checking, one thing stands out, impressive range of motion close to the problem area. Our solution, qualify if a certain region of the body requires a range that’s over the norm, then apply a strategy to introduce tightness. The result? Pain reduction , increase is strength and quality of life.

Are you hyper-mobile? Super flexible? Do you get injured a lot? At Momentum Fitness, we specialize in testing clients who want to get rid of pain and get strong. Shoot us a DM if you want to learn more.👌🏽

Happy Sunday!🙂

To ensure quality of work, we have a standardized screen in place. One of those screens is an OVERHEARD SQUAT. This modality allows us to observe global movement between the head, shoulders, torso , hips and ankles. Using this as a standard screening procedure allows us to make critical decisions when it comes to fitness or performance programming.

With advances in health and fitness, we make sure that we are abreast with emerging research and best practices. We still rely on the methods that make us reliable coaches, but improved it with up-to-date technology that provides valuable insights through data. We take coaching seriously hence our desire to adapt and be better for the community we serve.💪🏽

To infinity and beyond!🚀
