Image: The delivery of the new batch of Acero-class Fast Attack Interdiction Craft - Missile ot FAIC-M from Israel Shipyards Limited has just arrived in the Philippines.
The fast attack crafts come as a Horizon 2 project, complementing the Philippine Navy requirement for this project. Moreover, there are still no indicated names regarding the vessels recently delivered to the Philippine Navy.
Apparently, any upcoming orders of the Acero-class might get accomplished through the Cavite Yard, whereby the Israel Shipyards improve some facilities in the area as part of the contract.
Still, this is the recent development that increases the Philippine Navy's littoral patrol operations as what these fast attack crafts are desgined for.

SHARKS ARE SAFER THAN COCONUTS
Shark encounters are one of the main fears people have when taking up, or thinking of trying, scuba diving. Many divers dream of seeing sharks while diving, but for some, it’s still a cause of concern. So it’s worth reminding them that coconuts present a far greater danger than sharks during a tropical vacation. Say what? Well, roughly 150 people are killed every year by falling coconuts — they are really, really heavy and fall from great heights — compared to around 10 yearly fatalities from shark attacks.

KIRBY MORGAN
In 1966, a company was formed that would change the face of commercial diving forever. The Kirby Morgan Corporation was dedicated to the development of lightweight, comfortable, professional diving gear. SCUBA DIVING IS SAFE
This isn’t so much one of our fun scuba diving facts as just a fact, and one that’s worth repeating to anyone interested in the sport. According to Divers Alert Network (DAN), the 2010 fatality rate in scuba diving was one death for every 211,864 dives. Compare that to one death in 126,626 for marathon runners. In fact, driving a car, playing soccer, golf and skydiving all cause significantly more deaths, in relation to number of participants, than scuba diving.

DID YOU KNOW?
Jacques Cousteau invented the first Aqua Lung
Today, Aqua Lung is a popular brand of dive gear (my favorite!) However, before it was a gear brand, it was the first breathing apparatus that worked on demand. Meaning, the regulator wasn’t continuously spewing out air from the scuba tank (not good if you wanted to stay below the surface for any amount of time).
If you aren’t familiar with Jacques Cousteau, well, he was sort of a badass with a lot of good work continuing in his name today.
