PFF mourns the passing of former national team player and grassroots coach Sugar Gutierrez, whose unwavering dedication to organizing the grassroots and developing young players and coaches profoundly shaped Philippine football.

A firm believer that sports excellence comes from a well-educated mind, Coach Sugar was a co-founder of the Holistic Education and Development Center (HEDCen), a visionary learning institution in Taytay that incorporates holistic development and sports--particularly football--to children's formative learning years.

Coach Sugar and his progressive mindset--that football can be a tool for complete human development--is something that Philippine football will miss dearly. Our sincerest condolences to his bereaved family and friends.
