Swim League Philippines Launches Nationwide Developmental Grassroots Water Polo and Beach Water Polo Program

The Swim League Philippines (SLP) has officially launched its Nationwide Developmental Grassroots Water Polo and Beach Water Polo Program, marking another major step in expanding aquatic sports opportunities for Filipino youth across the country.

SLP President Fred Galang Ancheta announced the partnership with Fil Nation and Philippine Heritage International, with the initial rollout covering seven key regions nationwide and plans to expand to all remaining regions in the coming year.

Water Polo and Beach Water Polo are the latest disciplines to be integrated into SLP’s grassroots development program, joining swimming, open water swimming, fin swimming, and underwater diving. The initiative aims to provide more opportunities for Filipino youth to participate in aquatic sports while promoting water safety, fitness, environmental stewardship and national development.

The program was made possible through the efforts of Philippine Heritage International under the leadership of Sonny Sicat, National Coach Ricardo Dilapdilap, and former members of the Philippine Water Polo National Team, siblings Pao Serrano and Francis Serrano.

The Muntinlupa Aquatic Center will serve as the National Capital Region hub for the program. During the ceremonial turnover of water polo equipment valued at nearly half a million Philippine pesos, several leaders and stakeholders witnessed the historic occasion, including SLP Executive Director Philbert Papa, SRMD Muntinlupa City Chief Joshua Cosare, YASDO Sports Director Cynthia Viacrusis, Atty. Jojay Alcaraz and Michelle Sison of Batang Juan Network, SLP President Fred Galang Ancheta, and Muntinlupa City’s First Lady Mary Trina Reyes Biazon.

The leaders expressed their gratitude to Fil Nation and Philippine Heritage International for their support and commitment to the growth of aquatic sports in the Philippines.

β€œWe welcome every discipline of aquatic sport into the Swim League Philippines family. Together, we will unite Filipino families through aquatic sports and inspire every citizen to become a friend, steward, and protector of our waters.

Through sport, we will help build a strong nation under God healthy in body, resilient in spirit, incorruptible in character, God centered in purpose, and patriotic in heart. United, we will develop champions in the water and responsible citizens for our country."
