With heavy hearts, we’re pressing pause on Backside Valley: Skateboarding Competition as Marikina City has officially declared a state of calamity due to the recent weather and flooding.
Right now, our priority is the safety and well-being of our community—not just our skaters, but their families, friends, and neighborhoods too. Skateboarding can wait; your safety comes first.
We’ll be postponing the event until further notice, and will update everyone once it’s safe to ride again.
In the meantime, let’s all look out for each other. Stay dry, stay safe, and we’ll see you on the ramps soon.

For skate OGs, you know the impact Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater had back in the day. When the game first dropped in 1999, skateboarding wasn’t even considered a mainstream sport—especially in the Philippines, where the scene was still underground. Yet, this game introduced an entire generation to the culture, tricks, and legends of skateboarding, making it a must-play for anyone who dreamed of catching air and landing impossible tricks.
Fast forward to today, and seeing Margielyn Didal officially represented in this game is a monumental moment for Philippine skateboarding.
From an era where skateboarding was barely recognized to now having one of our own in a game that shaped the culture—this is history in the making.
