Meet Mr. Alvin Cesar, a 55-year old trail runner from the province of Leyte and representing Team Waray.

Last year, Mr. Cesar ran the 50km category and arrived at the finish line just 5 minutes beyond the cut-off time and was tagged as DNFOT (did not finish on time). He never came to us begging for his medal and finisher shirt nor did he message us personally for them.

We never heard him say anything negative about us and probably did not blame anyone else but himself. He sucked up his failure in silence and came back stronger this year crushing the brutal 50km route with more than 3 hours of time to spare. Now that, is beyond redemption.

So to everyone who is still asking us if we could change our policy about handing out pity medals and pity finisher shirts beyond cut-off time? ABSOLUTELY F*****G NOT! It will be a huge disrespect to all the runners who worked hard to finish on time and an even bigger insult to the strong-willed and mentally-tough people like Mr. Alvin Cesar.
