“If you’re willing to die for your family,
you should also be willing to live a healthy life for them.”
That line hit me hard.
Someone told me that…
and it completely changed the way I see life.
I used to exercise for myself.
For energy.
For confidence.
For performance.
But now?
I have a different reason.
My wife.
Our growing family.
Being healthy isn’t just self-care anymore.
It’s responsibility.
I need to be sharp for them.
Not tired.
Not irritable.
Not burned out.
So I prioritize sleep—
not because it’s “discipline,”
but because they deserve the best version of me.
I lift weights —
not to show my muscles
but so I’m strong enough to carry the burden
when life gets heavy.
I eat better —
not to look good,
but so I’m still around.
Still present.
Still able.
This is what no one told us as men:
Providing isn’t just about money.
Protecting isn’t just about strength.
Sometimes, fighting for your family
looks like choosing health
when no one is watching.
As an upcoming father,
this is the lens I now see life through.
And if you’re a father —
or about to become one —
Don’t just say you’d die for your family.
Live for them.

IDEAL BODY COMPOSITION OR IDEAL BODY WEIGHT?
Growing up, I thought of having a normal BMI as the goal.
Schools, clinics, orgs use it as basis for malnutrition problems of the people.
Now that I am into the low carb community, I often see and read people's comments like
"Malapit na ako sa goal weight ko."
"Ilang kilos na lang, makukuha ko na ang ideal body weight ko."
"Eto ang normal sa BMI ko."
Although there's nothing wrong with having an ideal body weight.
But going down that path has consequences. We extend our fasting so much that it affects our body composition.
It includes losing muscle mass, looking sickly, feeling weak, loose skin, etc.
Why is it important to go for BODY COMPOSITION rather than ideal body weight?
Because more muscles means
Strength, better blood sugar levels/blood pressure, energy, glow, youth, longevity and quality life.
Muscle Health = Better Health
There is a better way of doing low carb, losing fat without losing muscle mass.
When I started low carb without eating enough calories, I reached 70kg but I look sickly and skinny.
Now that I am into low carb + muscle building, I am still around 70 kg but better body composition.
How to do that?
Eat enough calories especially protein and incorporate resistance training.
