It was a coronation for star guard Justin Nuestro, who just capped one of the NABL's most successful individual seasons with 27 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 5 steals in the finale, becoming the only player with four 20-point performances in the Finals. He was unanimously named the Athletes Pod NABL Finals MVP for Season 8.
In the 2025-26 campaign, Nuestro won his second MVP and his first championship while leading his team to the fourth season sweep in history. He and Darren Avestruz are the only players in NABL history to win a championship, MVP, Finals MVP, and an All-Defensive Team selection in the same season.
After five seasons of disappointing finishes, including two in the Finals stage, Nuestro's turn to finally be called a champion was worth the wait. A team captain for the second time in the league, he stuck with his long-time teammates from his alumni batch Valentus, but asked for the guidance of league veterans as he went full onslaught on his mission to capture his first-ever championship.
Winning his second MVP this season was a cherry on top for his already stacked resume in the league, but claiming the Finals MVP trophy was a validation of his talent and hard work to finally be amongst the greatest ever to do it. Nuestro has the highest scoring average in Finals history to date, pouring a ridiculous 30.5 points per game in four games across three NABL Finals appearances. He still holds the record of the highest scoring game in the Finals, dropping 39 points in a heartbreaking loss in the Season 2 Finals against the Tanders.
And now, whatever the future may hold for the Young Wolf, he will forever be called a champion.
