Today, we commemorate the 128th anniversary of Philippine independence—a freedom won through the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering love of countless Filipinos who came before us.

In every brushstroke, photograph, design, and story, we carry forward the resilience and spirit of the Filipino people. As Ignatian artists and Ateneans, our talents are gifts not only for expression, but also for service in pursuit of truth, justice, and hope. Through art, we preserve stories and bear witness to both the triumphs and struggles of our fellow Filipinos.

May we continue to use our creativity to remember, to inspire, and to contribute to the ongoing work of building a more just and compassionate nation.

As the national alliance of Ateneo student governments, Buklod Atenista joins the call for justice, transparency, and accountability following the tragic deaths of Atenean student-athletes Rene Clert Baterbonia and Divine Adili.

Mourning must be accompanied by truth. Solidarity must be accompanied by accountability. We stand with their families, teammates, and the entire public in demanding answers, supporting those left behind, and ensuring that meaningful reforms emerge from this tragedy.
