OUR MISSION

Drowning is the 3rd leading cause of unintentional injury worldwide, accounting for 7% of all injury-related deaths according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

On the average, at least 3000 Filipinos of all ages die annually from drowning injury (0.43% of deaths for all age groups) more than a third (35.6%) affect children under 14 years (3.2% of deaths among children 0-14 years).

Mortality is highest among children ages 1-4 years compared to other age groups (Mortality Rate (MR) per 100,000=6.4) and among males compared to females for all age groups (MR 5.6).

Drowning outranks traditional causes of child mortality (eg. Meningitis, Septicemia, Malnutrition, Tuberculosis, and Pneumonia), and will place 6th, 3rd, and 2nd leading cause of mortality for children ages 1-4, 5-9 and 10-14 years, respectively. (who.int, Drowning, 15 January 2018)

Athena Academy and AthenaGiving strive to make the Philippines attain a lesser to zero (0) drowning casualty and become DISASTER RESILIENT in the near future.

GOAL

Our Teaching Methodology and approach in our Learn to Swim Program is not the same as any other swim school here in the Philippines. We’re the only Swim School incorporating Water Safety, Rescue and Survival, First Aid, and Basic Life Support skills in all our programs which is our main foundation and edge over our competitors.

Our team aims to touch the lives of all people of all ages, race, gender, and ethnicity in the way of teaching swimming, water safety, survival, rescue response, emergency medical services, first aid, basic life support, disaster management, and preparedness.

Our teaching approach is designed and tailored-fit according to the capacity and skill of the student/swimmer. We aim to empower and help the students maximize their potential from all levels (Red) beginner, (Yellow) intermediate, and (Green) advance.

Babies get to be introduced to the water to be more comfortable, familiar and eventually learn to love swimming as they get exposed to fun and safe water activities meant according to their skills and age. Parents are thought about how to handle their kids inside the water & be able to help their babies practice at home or anywhere when they are not having their lessons.

B. Flounder Bambino - 3.5 -6 years old

Introduction to Water Safety, Survival Swimming, and Basic First Aid. Little children get to learn basic & advanced swimming, polishing their survival skills and a touch of basic water safety as they get exposed to fun and safe water activities meant according to their skills and age in a fun but standard technique.

C. Baywatch Kids - 7-13 years old

A team composed of doctors, nurses, physical and occupational therapists, medical technicians, dentists, and other related courses committed to nurturing and saving lives in the call of Emergency and Disaster.

This is the Emergency Medical and Disaster Response Team of AthenaGiving which aims to have program development activities including but not limited to having a system that provides all kinds of emergency medical care and but also is responsive to any types of disaster, all kinds of hazards focusing on helping both private and public service and shall work with public safety colleagues in law enforcement and fire services.

Purpose of AthenaGiving

A duly organized non-government and non-profit charitable organization under the existing Philippine laws. Its aim is to provide, promote, conduct, initiate, undertake, formulate, sponsor assist, support and finance projects, programs or activities for the health, medical services, training, emergency medical services, safety services, disaster services, humanitarian, livelihood, social welfare, education, and armed conflict support services. It also aims to lessen the agony and promote assistance and sponsorship to other deserving and legit NGOs and INGOs, institutions, individuals, and groups for the implementation of their programs and projects through the aid of their global online social platform for GiftAid, Crowdfunding, and fundraising. They’re a group of professional educators and medical practitioners who aim to provide year-round help and assistance to the needy in times of before, during/onset, and after a disaster and emergency strikes.

DISCLAIMER

Athena Academy and the team will not be held liable for any losses, damages, accidents, injuries, and the like arising from health-related issues during the coaching and mentoring sessions. A legit medical certificate coming from a licensed Medical Consultant is needed prior to the start of the training/coaching session. Complete medical history shall be provided at the onset of the enrollment. Should there be any medical condition or medication needed to be taken during the training/coaching session, this should also be indicated in the Medical Certificate for both the student and the coach’s safety and security. Parent’s consent is also needed upon enrollment to any program/course for minors. Continuous practice at home, self-discipline, and patience is highly recommended for the fast development of the students. Full payment on Tuition Fee is required prior to the first lesson. Regarding absences, the School Director/Admin should be notified a day before the student’s absence and there should be only up to three (3) Makeup classes that the students can make use for no more than a month’s time.
