“A day for Sierra Madre"

Presidential Proclamation No. 413, issued by then President Benigno S. Aquino III, declared September 26 of every year as “Save Sierra Madre Day”. Encouraging all sectors of society and the government to unite in pursuing activities aimed at conserving the Sierra Madre, and to plan, prepare, and conduct meaningful observances of Save Sierra Madre Day. The Sierra Madre Patriots Eagles Club (SMPEC), named after the Sierra Madre Mountains, is initiating a one-day activity titled “A Day for Sierra Madre” on September 27, 2025, Saturday, considering the availability of participants, to celebrate and give thanks to the Sierra Madre Mountains, which serve as a vital natural defense against powerful tropical cyclones that have, for many years, saved lives and minimized damage to infrastructure, ecosystems, and livelihoods. As part of the event, the SMPEC organize a fundraising activity for the realization of this endeavor that includes a fun walk/run, tree planting, hiking trail, live cultural band, fun bike ride, zumba, raffle and camping for participants who wish to stay overnight. It will be a day of joy, unity, and thanksgiving for the Sierra Madre.
