For 11 days, 3-year-old Karina Chikitova was missing in the Siberian wilderness — surrounded by bears, freezing cold, and no way home.

She had wandered off after her father, not realizing he didn’t know she was following. But she wasn’t alone — her loyal dog Naida had gone with her.

Naida kept Karina warm when temperatures dropped, while the little girl drank river water and ate wild berries to survive. Then, in an incredible act of loyalty and intelligence, Naida did what no one expected — she ran back to the village alone.

When Naida returned without Karina, the family feared the worst. But the dog hadn’t given up — she led rescuers back to where Karina was found, alive and curled up in tall grass.

Doctors couldn’t believe it — Karina survived with just mosquito bites and scratches. Without Naida? “She wouldn’t have made it,” rescuers said.
