From ankle sprain to game-ready in just a few days. ๐ช๐
Before their Monday league game in Lambak, my client suffered an ankle sprain during a hard drive to the basket. The next day, the ankle was swollen and painful โ but instead of forcing rest alone, we focused on proper rehab, dynamic mobilization drills, and controlled movement recovery.
Our goal was simple:
โ
Reduce pain and swelling
โ
Restore mobility and stability
โ
Regain confidence before game day
Leading up to Thursdayโs game, we carefully tested the ankle through rehab exercises and basketball-specific movement drills. Even 1 hour before tip-off, we were still doing activation and mobility work to make sure the ankle could handle game intensity safely.
To add extra support and protection, I applied athletic taping on the injured ankle for added stability and confidence during cuts, drives, and landings. ๐ฉน๐ฅ
The result?
โ๏ธ No pain during the game
โ๏ธ Played confidently
โ๏ธ Performed well
โ๏ธ Team secured the WIN ๐
This is why proper rehab after a minor injury is important.
Benefits of rehab exercises after a minor injury:
๐น Faster recovery and reduced stiffness
๐น Restores strength, mobility, and balance
๐น Prevents compensation injuries
๐น Helps athletes return to sports safely
๐น Builds confidence in movement again
Benefits of athletic taping for ankle sprain:
๐น Added ankle stability and support
๐น Helps limit risky movement positions
๐น Improves confidence while playing
๐น Can reduce stress on healing tissues
Recovery is not just about resting โ itโs about preparing the body to perform again safely and efficiently. ๐ฏ

Stretching after a priming workout (activation + dynamic warm-up) before a basketball game can helpโbut only if done the right way. Hindi lahat ng stretching equal, especially pre-game.
Hereโs the real breakdown:
โ
Benefits of Stretching (AFTER priming workout)
1. Improves range of motion without killing power
After priming (jumps, sprints, activation), your muscles are already โawake.โ
Light stretching helps you:
Move more freely (hips, ankles, shoulders)
Get deeper in defensive stance
Better stride length when sprinting
๐ Key: dynamic or short-duration stretches only
2. Reduces muscle tightness from gym priming
If your priming includes:
squats
lunges
resisted drills
You might feel โtight but strong.โ
Stretching helps balance that so you donโt feel stiff when playing.
3. Enhances movement efficiency
Good mobility = smoother movement:
Faster change of direction
Cleaner cuts
Better shooting mechanics (especially shoulders & thoracic)
4. Helps prevent compensation injuries
If you skip stretching:
Tight hips โ stress sa knees / IT band
Tight calves โ ankle issues
Tight shoulders โ poor shooting form
Stretching restores balance before game stress.
5. Improves mind-body readiness
Short stretch phase helps:
relax unnecessary tension
improve focus
transition from training โ competition mode
