Team ABR arrives in Pampanga with title defence in focus
Defending overall champion returns to the FELET Champions League Music Fest Edition after winning last year’s title by just 10 points in a closely contested finish.

Team ABR will arrive in Pampanga with a clear objective: to defend the overall championship title it secured at last year’s FELET Champions League Music Fest Edition.
The team enters this year’s tournament carrying the distinction of having prevailed in one of the competition’s closest finishes. Last year’s edition developed into a two-day contest involving Team ABR, MSI Juniors and Team DGS, with the overall standings remaining unsettled until the final stages of the event.
The championship calculation itself became a prolonged affair. All three leading teams lodged protests relating to the final tabulation, extending the process before the standings were ultimately confirmed.
When the final numbers were settled, Team ABR emerged as overall champion by a margin of only 10 points.
The narrow victory underscored how little separated the leading teams and placed greater significance on results accumulated across the tournament. Other teams from Northern Luzon also secured podium finishes, reflecting the depth of competition in the region during the event.
This year, Team ABR returns with the task of converting that previous success into a successful title defence.
The team is led by Coach Albo, a former Philippine national team player, and has developed a reputation for producing high-level singles competitors.
Among the players associated with the programme are Gelo Albo, Aira Albo and Wijel Albo, who are currently, or have previously been, part of the Philippine national badminton set-up.
That development record has given Team ABR a competitive base extending beyond a single tournament result. Its ability to produce singles players capable of progressing to the national level has become an important part of the programme’s identity.
But defending an overall championship brings a different challenge.
The 10-point margin that separated Team ABR from its closest rivals last year demonstrated how quickly a title can be determined by individual matches and accumulated points across categories. With returning teams seeking to improve on last season and new challengers entering the field, the margin for error is likely to remain limited.
For Team ABR, Pampanga therefore represents both a continuation and a test: an opportunity to defend the title it won last year, and to demonstrate that one of the league’s narrowest championship victories can be followed by another sustained campaign.
