A seven-man Philippine boxing youth team will open its campaign today, August 23 at the 2024 Taipei City Cup Boxing Tournament in Taiwan.

Seeing action are Nick Anjelo Payla (49kg), Jerome Lopez (54kg), John Steven Demaisip (60kg), and Ivan Franz Ferrer (71kg), Maria Adriana Cabalfin (48kg), Xian Baguhin (50kg), and Clowe Tabastabas (57kg).

Cabalfin will kick off the country’s participation against hometown favorite Zheng Meng Xin, followed by Tabastabas versus another Taiwanese, Lin Shu Ting.

The youth squad is accompanied by ABAP national coaches Patricio Gaspi, Violito Payla, and newly-hired women’s coach Josie Gabuco, a Filipina world boxing champion in 2012 and five-time SEA Games gold medalist.
