On October 21, at the City College of San Jose del Monte (CCSJDM) Auditorium, the 14th Local Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (LCUAA) Taekwondo competition brought together exceptional athletes from various local colleges and universities for a full day of competition, sportsmanship, and skill.

The event began in the morning with the Poomsae Division, where participants showcased grace, balance, and precision in the individual, team, and mixed pair categories. The excitement continued into the afternoon session with the Kyorugi (sparring) matches for both the Menโ€™s and Womenโ€™s Senior Divisions, highlighting the athletesโ€™ power, agility, and tactical excellence across all weight classes.

Participating institutions included Taguig City University (TCU), Gordon College (GC), Universidad de Manila (UDM), Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa (PLMun), Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig (PLP), Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng San Pablo (PLSP), Kolehiyo ng Lungsod ng Lipa (KLL), University of Caloocan City (UCC), and CCSJDM.

Throughout the competition, athletes demonstrated true taekwondo spirit โ€” courage, respect, and perseverance. A few intense matches saw competitors from TCU, KLL, and PLSP sustain mid-match injuries, all of whom received immediate medical care. Despite these challenges, each bout was fought with honor and integrity, reflecting the discipline that defines the sport.

The tournament concluded with an energetic awarding ceremony that recognized the top-performing schools and athletes of the day. Emerging as the overall champion of the 14th LCUAA Taekwondo Championship was GC, led by Most Valuable Player (MVP) Unica Angela Hyah S. Fadri, after securing an impressive total of five gold, three silver, and six bronze medals.

In second place was UDM with four gold, two silver, and two bronze medals, while TCU followed in third place, earning three gold, nine silver, and two bronze medals.

The rest of the rankings are as follows: PLP โ€“ three gold, two silver, and seven bronze; PLSP โ€“ three gold and eight bronze; PLMun โ€“ two gold, two silver, and two bronze; KLL โ€“ one gold, one silver, and nine bronze; UCC โ€“ four bronze; and CCSJDM โ€“ one silver.

Congratulations to all participating schools, athletes, and coaches for a successful and inspiring competition! The 14th LCUAA Taekwondo event truly embodied discipline, respect, perseverance, and unity โ€” the very core of Taekwondo.
