Freedom is never free, and it is rarely comfortable. It’s easy to celebrate the idea of independence but it's hard to do the daily work of defending it. Fighting for what is right means learning to say "no"—no to compromises that erode our values, no to the degradation of human dignity, and no to apathy.
We inherit a country bought with blood and sacrifice. Being a patriot means loving your country enough to challenge it to be better.
