Looking for a school for your child? Please check out Sisidlan Institute, a Steiner-Waldorf school in Metro Manila.
Together with fellow parents and teachers, we formally established Sisidlan as a non-profit educational institution on August 30, 2019 right on the heels of the 100th years of Waldorf Education. Our hope is to make Waldorf education accessible to families from all walks of life so that every child will have the possibility of a humanistic education. We are happy that the seed we have planted is sprouting with the help of a growing community. We invite you to join us.
What is the right school for your child?
If it's a school that provides an education that develops resilience, confidence and empathy in your child, then you’ve found it.
Welcome to Sisidlan, our growing community!
We are a Steiner-Waldorf School
that provides a child-centered and holistic approach to education.
We uphold the philosophy that education is a healthy and balanced process,
seeing and nurturing the child's whole development:
the Head (mental),
the Heart (emotional),
and the Hands (physical).
We celebrate local and world culture,
nourishing our children with stories woven by our forbearers,
giving them a strong anchor grounded by our history, destiny, and truth.
We are a community,
a Bayanihan led by parents and teachers,
a place for children and families from different socio-economic backgrounds,
a Steiner-Waldorf educational institution that advocates accessibility and aims for sustainability.
We practice Ambagan,
a contribution and honesty system wherein everyone in the community genuinely shares resources, time and effort,
challenging how we value education,
sustaining the school and supporting each other the best possible way, in bringing meaningful learning to our children.
A Community-led Steiner-Waldorf Initiative,
We are SISIDLAN INSTITUTE.

I am so thrilled to be carrying three of my children's favorite books! Written by a mother-daughter team, Waldorf kindergarten mentor and founder of Waldorf Education in the Philippines, Bella Tan and her daughter, Katrina Tan Ulrich, you will love the beautiful illustrations and the poignant calming stories. My children's copies of these precious books have worn out through constant reading and turning of its pages.

Playsilks are one of the most practical items to have in your mommy stash. They are perfect for the nature table to celebrate the seasons and the festivals. They are perfect for the story table to create magical scenes that capture the child's imagination. They are the perfect eco-friendly costumes during birthday parties and Halloweens. And of course, they are perfect toys for children as they are so versatile - from costumes to ropes to the sky, the sun, the ocean - they can be anything the child wants it to be.
We have Sarah's Silks back on stock. Mini-silks come in different colors. The Earth colors for the regular playsilks and mini-playsilks are simply enchanting. The cotton clothes are a delight to both adult and child.

The first weekend of Bothmer Movement was all about imagination - moving with imagination as the basic principle of all Bothmer exercises and seeing how this is applied in games with children.
And so how we laughed and played with passion, how we delighted with surprise and glee at the many discoveries of how are body can move when we apply certain imaginative principles, how we cheered and encouraged each other, how we sang our hearts out, how we pushed our imaginations to discover all kinds of clapping games, and so much more… We allowed ourselves to be like children. It felt good and it was so much fun.
Looking forward to the second weekend.
For those who want to join us this coming weekend, you can still catch up! We start this 24th January, Friday, 12:00pm.
You may contact us by sending a DM or through 09663593854.

Here is what Athena Masilungan, class teacher at Acacia Waldorf School and founder of Balay Sofia, has to say about her experience with Bothmer Movement:
"Bothmer has helped me understand that the body is a magnificent manifestation of orderly perfection, and that by aligning our own movement to this natural order, we will be able to express harmony and beauty through our bodies with lightness and ease."
Bothmer Movement: Connect with Life will begin this 17 January 2020. We are still open for registration.

In 2015, Shaping Sophia, in cooperation with Bothmer Movement International, held a 6-day introductory Bothmer Movement workshop. Sharing with you this beautiful write-up from Theresa Mora of Shaping Sophia about her experience:
How interesting it is to be reminded that many of the words we use are really related to our sense of where we are in space.
We get "excited" comes from the word "exited" which means to be outside yourself. To be "ecstatic" is to stand still "outside" of oneself.
In our language we also talk dimensions when we say we look "forward" to something in the future and we look "back" to the past. We also describe someone who is "here" with us when one is "present" or in the moment.
These are just a few reminders that Bothmer Movement gifted us these past few days.
Imagine embodying what it means to be "present" - to be in the space between the polarities of above and below, left and right, front and back. Between joy and sorrow, happiness and sadness.
"When we strive to move our bodies to a balance, a natural unforced center, we also change the way we see ourselves". Martin Baker gives us this one of many profound Truths through Bothmer.
As among the four individuals that brought Bothmer in the Philippines, I realized I needed Bothmer for myself and it is a wonderful realization that in the fulfilling of my "need" other people are also gifted by it.
I am personally grateful for the attendees of the Bothmer workshop because with them I am beginning to discover many things that i can still improve myself on especially the "inner" part of me that spills their evidences through the way I move.

All humans wish to lead a happy and fulfilling life. Amid the many wonders and opportunities we are offered by the modern world, many of us feel frustration at a lack of time and space in our lives. We spend too much time looking at screens and we feel a lack of authentic connection with the real world.
Bothmer Movement is a programme of experiences and techniques which can help us to enrich the connections in our lives. Connection to our self; our body, our mind, our emotions, connection to our environment; our homes, to culture and to nature, and connection with the people in our lives; our family relationships, friends and work colleagues. Throughout all of this we ultimately find a stronger connection to our purpose in life, bringing about inner peace, happiness and freedom.
Arising through the Waldorf education initiative in early 20th century Germany, Bothmer Movement connects the spiritual and physical dimensions of human experience through Rudolf Steiner’s spiritual science of Anthroposophy. Bothmer provides a series of exercises which reflect archetypal gestures and forms, the practice of which brings consciousness to movement in everyday life. These exercises are accompanied by a diverse programme of games and activities, offering an experiential understanding of child development which is invaluable to teachers and parents.
We are very happy to bring you BOTHMER MOVEMENT: CONNECT WITH LIFE, a 125-hour training certificate program that will be meeting five times from 2020-2021. Each meeting will be composed of 25 hours divided over 5-6 days. This program is under the Bothmer Movement International (BMI), a worldwide association of Bothmer specialists. BMI has been running training programs internationally for over 40 years.
