An intense and emotional championship showdown took place in the Amaia Ballers Season 2 Finals as the Black Team captured the crown after defeating the White Team, 71-65.
The game started with an early spark from the White Team after a smooth left-handed layup by A. Sarsosa gave them a quick 2-0 lead. But after that opening basket, the Black Team slowly took control of the game and never looked back. From strong defensive pressure to disciplined ball movement, Black Team dominated most of the match while White Team spent the entire game trying to catch up.
White Team also made it a point to play physical defense against S. Micu throughout the game. They pressured him on every possession, denied him easy touches, and challenged every drive to the basket. Because of that aggressive defensive strategy, Micu was limited to just 11 points, lower than his usual offensive production. Still, he found ways to contribute through hustle plays, rebounds, defense, and timely baskets that helped Black Team maintain momentum.
Another huge storyline of the Finals was the toughness shown by D. Cheng, who still suited up and played despite not feeling well before the game. Even while battling through discomfort, Cheng continued to contribute on both ends of the floor with his playmaking and defense. Because Cheng was not at 100%, G. Villacorta (Season 2 Ultimate 6th Man) stepped up in a major way offensively for the Black Team.
G.Villacorta delivered one of his best performances of the season, finishing with 20 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals, while knocking down 3 out of 4 three-pointers. His outside shooting and timely scoring gave Black Team a huge boost whenever White Team tried to make a run. K. Salonga also added crucial baskets from deep, converting 2 out of 3 shots from beyond the arc.
Despite the loss, A. Allada led White Team with 20 points, but the veteran guards of Black Team focused their defense on limiting his scoring opportunities during crucial stretches of the game. White Team continued to fight behind the efforts of J. Ebuenga (12 points) and E. Acosta (11 points), but they could never fully regain control after Black Team established momentum.
Running the offense with composure and leadership was J. Labor, who finished with an outstanding all-around performance of 15 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists, and 4 steals. His court vision, leadership, and defensive intensity became the heartbeat of Black Teamβs championship victory.
Black Team also received valuable contributions from the entire roster, especially from R. Flores, who controlled the paint with 11 rebounds and 1 block, while the teamβs defense and hustle plays proved to be the difference throughout the game.
