CONGRATULATIONS ROBERTO DELIMA - ๐ฅ BRONZE MEDALIST OF THE ROUTE 97 THAILAND 2024 | AMAZING SUP MEN'S OPEN
"Iโm Roberto Bamboa Delima, and this race taught me the true meaning of camaraderie and being a good sport, all while proudly representing the Philippines. After this, I plan to find a job to support my family and, of course, continue paddling and practicing for future races.
To the younger paddlers out there, always listen, keep learning, stay disciplined, and train harder than you did yesterday. I hope the SUP Philippines community continues to grow, opening doors for new, young paddlers to shine in future races.
I want to express my deepest gratitude to God for keeping us safe and making this event a success. Huge thanks to Polly and the crew for organizing this unforgettable race in Thailand. None of this would have been possible without the unwavering support of our beloved Mayor Mytha Ann Basubas Canoy, our team leader Sir Ian Bacalla and Mother Emily Ruth Canoy, our coach Sir Abdiaz Gedaro, and our tech support Carl Stephen Bonsucan. Congratulations to my teammatesโwe gave it our all in this hell of a race.
I also want to thank our sponsors: Mayor Mytha Ann B. Canoy, Municipality of San Fernando, Go San Fernando Family, Eljan Sports, Noa Water Gear, Duckten Sports, Aframe Surf Company, GJS Fitness Gym, Philippine Canoe Outrigger, Philippine Extreme Sports Scoring System, Driftwood Local ENT., South Thunder Apparel, and Mactan Adventure Crew. CONGRATULATIONS CYREL "SAYSAY" IGOT - ๐
7TH PLACE OF THE ROUTE 97 THAILAND 2024 | INHUMAN SUP MEN'S OPEN
"The Route 97 event has been an eye-opening experience for me. Competing with paddlers from around the world was both wonderful and humbling. I learned so much from watching how other competitors manage their equipment, especially when it comes to balance, speed, and overall control. Many of them use their own raceboards for practice, which makes a big difference. Unfortunately for us, we've been practicing on touring boards, which aren't as light or fast. But we're determined to keep pushing ourselves, and with the right support to get proper raceboards, we believe we can achieve our goal of becoming the top paddlers.
After this, my plan is to continue with my physical training and preparation for the upcoming races. The journey doesn't end hereโit's just another step forward.
To the young paddlers who look up to me, my message is simple: just keep doing what you started, and eventually, you'll achieve your goals. Consistency and dedication are key.
For the SUP community in the Philippines, I hope it grows even bigger than I expect. We need more support from the local government, especially in terms of equipment for the next generation. Right now, the equipment we're using isn't up to the standard for proper racing, and I hope that changes soon.
Lastly, I want to express my gratitude to everyone who has supported me and my teamโSUP Pilipinas. A special thank you to Mayor Mytha Basubas Canoy, our team manager Ian Bacalla, and our coach Abdiaz Gedaro. Thanks also to Epos Falcone, Aframe, Mactan Adventure Crew, Coastline, and Go San Fernando for their unwavering support. We wouldn't be here without you."

CONGRATULATIONS THONEJAY MANUGAS - ๐
5TH PLACE OF THE ROUTE 97 THAILAND 2024 | INHUMAN SUP MEN'S OPEN
"Participating in this race has taught me so much. The struggle, the preparation, the discipline, the teamwork, the commitment, and the sacrificesโall of these have been invaluable lessons. But the best lesson I've learned is the experience itself.
Moving forward, my plan is to take the knowledge and wisdom I've gained and pass it on to the younger ones who are interested in stand-up paddleboarding. I want to share with them what we've experienced and learned.
To the younger paddlers looking up to me, I urge you to take on responsibilities as early as possible. Have the right attitude and mindset. Be disciplined in every little way, avoid alcohol, be a good citizen, and keep paddling. Hard work brings rewards.
For the SUP community in the Philippines, I wish all the best. I hope for success in the upcoming races in our country and abroad, especially for our team, SUP Pilipinas, who will continue to bring honor to our nation. Mabuhay! More races to come.
I would like to thank our beautiful and kind mayor of our beloved hometown, San Fernando, Cebu, Mayor Mytha Basubas Canoy, for tirelessly helping and supporting us, and for providing all the resources we needed in the community. A big thanks to all the sponsors. Thanks to the GoSanFernando community and crew. To Sir Ian Bacalla and Tita Emily Ruth Canoy, thank you so much for your trust, love, and support. CONGRATULATIONS ANTHONY DERECHO - ๐
4TH PLACE OF THE ROUTE 97 THAILAND 2024 | INHUMAN SUP MEN'S OPEN
"I'm Anthony Derecho, 25 years old, and I've been paddling for nine years. Reflecting on my recent race, the best lesson I've learned is that there's no room for error. One single mistake can affect your performance drastically. You need to control your mind and body in a race that can last for hours. Consistency, strength, and endurance are crucial to finishing.
Moving forward, I plan to continue my training, set new goals, and develop new strategies. I'll push myself even harder as I prepare for upcoming races.
To the young paddlers looking up to me, just keep going. Hard work leads to better results, and don't forget to encourage others to try paddle boarding.
For the SUP community in the Philippines, I wish for more competitive and strong paddlers. We need enough equipment and training facilities for the community.
I would like to give my heartfelt gratitude to SUP Pilipinas, Mayor Mytha Canoy, our team manager Ian, Coach Abdiaz, my family, and friends who have always supported my passion. I've been dreaming of this for almost seven years, and now I'm here, competing with the best in the world. I know this is just the start, but why do I train? Why does the team train? Because we paddle to become champions."

"The experience was incredible; I learned so much that I can't even count them all. Looking ahead, I'm more motivated than ever. I've seen that it's possible to rise to higher level. It's necessary to double down on training and practice more on the stability of the race board.
To the young paddlers in my country, always practice and encourage yourself to paddle. It's one of the keys to make you stronger. I hope the SUP community will grow and that there will be more stand-up paddlers in the Philippines.

Filipinos Shine at The ROUTE 97 Ultra Distance Race 2024
Kanchanaburi, Thailand - SUP Pilipinas paddler Arnie John Sasil secured a remarkable 3rd place finish in the Inhuman Category at this year's The ROUTE 97 Ultra Distance race. Battling against professional athletes, Sasil trailed closely behind Sunova Paddler Daniel Hasulyo of Hungary, who took 1st place, and NSP Paddler Martin Patumsuwon of Thailand, who finished 2nd. Sasil's performance was part of an impressive showing by SUP Pilipinas, with paddlers Anthony Derecho (4th), Thonejay Manugas (5th), and Cyrel Igot (7th) all tightly contesting the lead pack against competitors from Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
In another stellar performance, SUP Pilipinas paddler Roberto Delima clinched 3rd place in the Amazing Category, holding his own against fierce competition from Thailand and China.
Despite facing torrential rains and the overflowing Kwai River, 212 paddlers from 21 countries successfully completed this year's race. Prioritizing safety, the organizers made the prudent decision to shorten the distance. However, the essence of the race as a true "Ultra Distance Race" was preserved, a sentiment echoed by SUP World Ranking.
Huge congratulations are in order for the entire organizing team for their exceptional handling of the challenging situation, ensuring that every participant had an unforgettable experience. This race has once again proven to be a must on any paddler's bucket list and promises to attract even larger crowds in the future.
Despite all the challenges, SUP Pilipinas demonstrated pure skill and dedication. We dedicate this success to the entire Philippines. Let's continue to show our excellence and love for sports. Mabuhay ang .
