Is freediving safe ?

It is 👌🏻 if we just follow a simple set of rules :

✅ Progressing gradually, at our own pace
✅ Freediving with trained and trustful buddies
✅ Respecting our limits
✅ Listening to ourselves
✅ Improving technique and relaxation - not pushing

Freediving can be considered as an extreme sport - so we take extreme precautions.

We never dive alone. People who are buddying us are reliable divers, that can ensure our safety.

Being a buddy comes with responsibility. It’s important to know our limits and to say no if we're not in the right headspace to support a dive.

You will never be judged to say no with the right people!

As freedivers, we don't push, but always progress accordingly to our level and skills, and how we feel on any given day.

In that way, we respect our limits, and try to enjoy every single dive.

Thanks for always being a great and safe buddy ✨🌞

Has anyone ever asked you what you get out of freediving? 🤿🫧

It’s not always easy to explain—especially to people who’ve never tried it. Holding your breath and going deeper can sound uncomfortable, or even crazy from the outside.

But there’s more to it than that.

Freediving teaches you how to use oxygen more efficiently. It builds lung capacity. It forces you to deal with discomfort, which in turn helps with anxiety control and emotional regulation. It brings a level of relaxation and mindfulness that’s hard to find elsewhere.

And that’s only part of it.

Curious to hear from you…
What’s your favorite benefit of freediving? ✨

Amuma Freediving School is happy to co-host the first Healing Waters Workshop together with ✨💙

📍 Lugnason Falls
🗓️ April 5 | 9:30–11:00 AM
🌟 Limited Spots Available - reserve yours early
🌿 Open to everyone - no freediving experience needed

Workshop Intention:
Exploring personal and collective connection through somatic experience, internal safety, and support dynamics. We’ll gently recognize where we feel internally unsafe, and reconnect to a place of regulation, renewal, and grounded presence—while being held in a supportive group space.

About Somatic Processing:
Somatic processing is the practice of connecting with the body and our internal experience. It helps us recognize where emotions are held, create space to feel and release them, and build a healthier relationship with ourselves, others, and our environment.

Session Flow:
• Guided somatic process
• Floating support experience
• Collective connection
• Reflection & sharing between sessions
• Waterfall swim

✨ 'Amuma' ✨

It’s a Bisaya word. There isn’t really an exact translation.

“To care for” comes close…
but it’s sooo much deeper than that.

It’s about being present, noticing the little things, offering gentle protection, and nurturing over time.

That’s exactly what we’re aiming to bring into the water -
and it’s what shapes everything we’re building around it.

A freediving school isn’t just about teaching techniques.
It’s about creating a space where you feel safe, supported, and at ease.

Where you can take your time. Where you can grow at your own pace.

Beyond diving, we care about the community, the connections we make, the people we meet, and the kids running barefoot along the beach.
They’re part of this story.
They’re the future of the ocean we love, and the present of their island.

Amuma is in the way we teach.
In the way we share.
In the way we are to the world.
And in the kind of space we’re creating - in and out of the water.

🪼 Soft in approach, strong in support…
flowing with purpose 🪸
