A huge thank you to the Philippine Red Cross for leading our First Aid Seminar at Origins Athletics. 🩹⛑️

We covered common injuries and emergency situations that can arise in Jiu-Jitsu and other combat sports, helping our coaches, students, and parents be better prepared when it matters most.

Knowledge, preparedness, and community—on and off the mats. 💪

Another sidequest complete our Battle Titos at the OA Wrestling Club. As always, our coaches lead by example, putting themselves out there, wrestling with kids half their age (including national team members) outside of their primary sport.

WAP 2026 Luzon Championships Results-

Coach Linus Tiu Bronze

Sharing Prof Linus’ () post from his personal account below because it perfectly sums up the scrappy mentality we’re proud to have cultivated in the gym-

Ask any 30+ something year old, and they’ll quickly admit that the older you get, the more enticing creature comforts are. Air conditioning, light workouts, French butter, a finer thread count on your sheets, you name it.

And why not? Life’s too short to be uncomfortable when you have to hold several jobs, raise a family, and hate the government on a regular basis. So if you have access to some level of daily relief, you soak in the motherf*cker.

Problem is, that stuff can dull you over time. So you have to balance it out with something challenging and tough - like free soloing or wrestling young bucks. As someone who’s pushing 50, the latter gets harder each passing year and everyone is always going to be younger. I don’t know about the former. I couldn’t even climb the corporate ladder.

When people see young athletes shine, they’re curious to see how that potential will play out. (“That kid can make it to the Olympics!”) When people see older competitors hold it together, they’re curious to see what risk versus reward ratio will be like. (“Let’s see his back on Monday.”)

So that’s where I came in yesterday at the Wrestling Association of the Philippine’s (WAP) 2026 Luzon Championships: bronze. Third place. In the Senior category of the 79kg class.

What can I say? I was hoping to win but at least I got to test myself and scrap against stronger, faster, more skilled wrestlers. Well, there’s my “fit check” as you keedsh like to post on yer socmed accounts. Haha! I’ll wrestle you all at the retirement home for your pain meds.
