The World Surf League is bringing the Championship Tour to the Philippines for the first time ever β and it's all thanks to the Philippine Sports Commission
This is what the PSC has been building toward: putting Filipino talent on the same lineup sheet as the world's best, on home turf, at home waves.
Through the continued support of the Philippine Sports Commission, this is more than one surfer's moment β it's proof of what's possible when a nation invests in its athletes. John Mark "Marama" John Mark M Tokong, the wildcard for the Philippines Pro will surf Cloud 9 against the Championship Tour's elite, at the break he grew up on.
A local trials competition will also be held at Cloud 9 to decide an additional men's and women's Wildcard for the event, seeing a total of three Filipinos representing the host country for the first time at the elite level.
