SPCBA Tigers Go Back-to-Back as Laguna ISAA Men’s Basketball Champions

May 3, 2025 – SPCBA Covered Court, San Pedro, Laguna

The San Pedro College of Business Administration (SPCBA) Tigers have once again roared to the top, claiming their second consecutive title in the Laguna ISAA Season 3 Men’s Basketball Championship with a commanding victory over the Saint Michael College of Laguna (SMCL) Archangels.

Fueled by passion, teamwork, and determination, the Tigers delivered a solid performance in front of their home crowd at the SPCBA Covered Court. Under the leadership of Head Coach Richard Peñaranda and Assistant Coaches Ralph Pantaleon and Jayson Monte, the team showed why they remain the gold standard in collegiate basketball across Laguna.

Galario, named Finals MVP, was instrumental with his timely plays and on-court leadership, while Season MVP Esperancilla continued his dominant all-around performance, anchoring the Tigers on both ends of the floor throughout the season.

Coach Richard Peñaranda emphasized the value of defense in their journey:

“The key to our win is our hard work on defense. The players trusted each other and stayed locked in. I also want to thank our school management, especially our chairman, for the unending support that made this back-to-back championship possible.”

This victory cements SPCBA as a basketball powerhouse in the ISAA and highlights the culture of excellence and unity the school continues to build on and off the court.

The SPCBA Tigers and the SMCL Archangels are set to face off in the highly anticipated Laguna ISAA Men's Basketball League Season 3 Finals on Saturday, May 3, 2025, with tip-off scheduled for 4:30 PM at the SPCBA Covered Court.

The Tigers, mentored by seasoned tactician Coach Richard Peñaranda, enter the finals brimming with confidence after a strong season. Leading their charge are three of the tournament’s standout performers: Asisten (SG), a feared perimeter shooter; Argota (PG), the playmaking maestro; and Esperancilla (SF), known for his two-way brilliance on both offense and defense.

The SMCL Archangels, under the guidance of respected coach Rollie Amonelo, arrive at the finals with momentum and grit. Panes, their key player, has been a driving force throughout the season, lifting SMCL with crucial baskets and veteran leadership.

Both teams represent the best of Laguna ISAA basketball — skill, toughness, and pride. With sharp coaching minds on both benches and star players ready to make their mark, the stage is set for a memorable championship battle.

As excitement builds across the campus and the city, basketball fans can expect an intense, fast-paced, and emotional showdown, with every possession magnified under the bright lights of the Finals.
