❓Why is there a guide fee if the mountain is free to hike?

Answer:

You’re right, the mountain itself doesn’t have an entrance fee. The guide fee isn’t for access to the trail, it’s for the service provided by the guide throughout the hike.

When you hire a guide, you’re getting someone who will:

* 🥾 Lead the group along the correct trail
* 🦺 Conduct a safety briefing before the hike starts
* 🧭 Help the group stay on the safest route
* ⛑️ Provide basic first aid and assist during emergencies
* 🌿 Share local knowledge about the mountain and its surroundings
* 🤝 Make the hike more organized, safe, and enjoyable

A guide does much more than simply point the way. They’re responsible for the group’s safety, keeping everyone together, monitoring trail conditions, and responding if something unexpected happens.
