OFFICIAL STATEMENT
Konsehal Lito Jacinto 1st Pickleball Tournament

First and foremost, we would like to thank everyone who participated in our tournament. We appreciate all the teams, players, volunteers, and officials who made this event possible.

We would also like to clarify some concerns that have been raised regarding the officiating and tournament rules.

Prior to the start of the tournament, all team leaders and participants were briefed on the tournament rules and flow during the orientation. These included the following:

• Score Calling – Since this was a community-friendly tournament and not a professionally sanctioned event, players were instructed to call the score before every serve. The umpire’s role was to monitor the match and assist when necessary, rather than announce every score.

• Dead Ball Rule – The umpire was instructed to call a dead ball only if an outside ball or other interference was deemed to have affected the rally or the players’ ability to continue play safely. Not every stray ball automatically results in a dead ball, as this remains the umpire’s judgment based on the situation.

• Line Calls – As announced before the games, line calls were to be made by the players following the spirit of fair play and sportsmanship. Umpires were available to assist whenever necessary.

While we understand that not every decision will satisfy everyone, all officials were instructed to apply the same rules consistently throughout the tournament.

We acknowledge that there is always room for improvement, and we welcome constructive feedback to help us organize even better events in the future. Our goal has always been to promote pickleball, encourage sportsmanship, and provide a fun and enjoyable experience for everyone.
